how can i set up www.moondancerwhippets.com seeing the address i'm useing to get to it now is http://13074.hostinglogin.com/moondancerwhippets.htm
i am a novice at web design, is their a way to have www.moondancerwhippets.com redirect to http://13074.hostinglogin.com/moondancerwhippets.htm but show www.moondancerwhippets.com as the web address in explorer?

hey

If your host allows parked domains, then thats probably the best way. But you could also use an add-on domain - both are easily configurable in CPANEL, but your host would have to provide these features.

If your host doesn't provide the above, then create an index page wherever www.moondancerwhippets.com points to, and have the following as the page source:

Code: Select all
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<title>MoonDancer Whippets</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>
<frameset>
  <frame src="http://13074.hostinglogin.com/moondancerwhippets.htm" name="mainFrame" frameborder="no"></frameset>
<noframes><body>
</body></noframes>
</html>
The above is called url masking.

Also, don't use MS front page, its got to be one of the worst, if not the worst, programs availible. I suggest dreamweaver as a good alternative.

REDIRECT

FIRST OFF THANKS FOR ANSWERING. I WILL TAKE YOUR ADVICE & GET DREAMWEAVER.

host would have to provide these features THEY DO NOT!.

then create an index page wherever www.moondancerwhippets.com points to, and have the following as the page source:

MY INDEX PAGE IS IN THE BASE DIRECTORY & IS FOR WWW.PASCOFLORIDAKENNELCLUB.ORG

www.moondancerwhippets.com IS NOT POINTING TO ANYTHING? THAT IS WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I HAVE THE WEB SPACE ON THE SERVER, 3 SEPERATE DOMAIN NAMES ATTACHED TO THE ACCOUNT. THE ACCOUNT IS 13074.hostinglogin.com
I UP LOADED THE /moondancerwhippets.htm TO THE ACCOUNT. HOW DOES THE www.moondancerwhippets.com GO TO THE 13074.hostinglogin.com/moondancerwhippets.htm

I DO BEILEVE I UNDERSTAND THE CODING FOR THE HEADER OF THE PAGE, BUT ON WHAT PAGE SHOULD I PUT IT ON? YES I AM A BEGINNER, SORRY FOR BEING DENCE!

Ralph, please don't use all capitals. It's considered shouting and therefore it's a little rude!

Have you set the name server address of the domain to point to the ns address of your web host? - This would be done with the domain name registrar

If you have it could also take upto 24 hours to propagate.
