Anyone know where I can find good prices on server racks? Just looking is all.

Well, this depends on where you live!

If you're just after the rack, with no components, then here are some prices.

If you're after entire racks with components, then it will probably work out cheaper to rent them, especially as, if you rent, you'll always have a rack that's pretty advanced and also means you won't have to spend all in one go.

Thanks Sirkent. Yeah, I have seen where you can rent them and I was wondering what the difference in price would be. Basically its going to be $300 a month to rent, so I am not sure which way I will go.

A Server Rack is a BIG BOX that can hold multiple servers. They can be anywhere from 2 servers to 26 (I never seen more than 26 in one rack!!). Basically it saves a ton of space. Rack mounted servers take a server:

and they are shaped like this instead:

||||||||||||||||
||||||||||||||||

And it just slides right into the server rack. It's very handy but very expensive.

Well, I think it's clear that, either way it's going to be expensive!

I have seen server hire (not sure if it's Rack-based) for around £70 a month, but that's a bare minimum and those companies are certainly not the best out there.

You can rent a rack at a DC somewhere like Energis for example, where you just pay for the space in the DC & the connectivity, and then turn up by appointment every now and again and install one of YOUR servers, that's probably the most flexable thing. Search for co-location.
