Creating Photoshop Comps For A Client
Hello everyone,
I'm a freelance web/print designer. I really only work on projects by myself, although sometimes I subcontract a php developer. Recently I've been approached to do Photoshop comps for a client. The client is a web developer and approached me for the design part of his project. I am very familiar with creating comps for logo/ad/book cover/album cover designs but I have never created them for web design. My question is how much do you hand over to the client? Obviously you can send them pdfs of your comps, but do you actually send them the layered photoshop files? Or maybe flattened Photoshop files? My only concern is that by handing over a layered file, are you allowing the client to poke around in the design and maybe learn/copy some of your tricks? I know they are paying for the design, but do you actually allow them to see what went INTO the design? Any thought/input would be much appreciated, Aldo. |

Re: Creating Photoshop Comps For A Client
You need to carefully build it, label all the layers correctly etc. He will more than likely require the layered file. You could flatten each layer to hide your "tricks" but the layer scheme needs to remain in tact so he can slice it up easily as required.
