Unhappy Text "bending" in photoshop 7 (nothing working)

Hey, guys. Well, I'm working on a logo for someone and am completely stuck. I need to bend text around a circle in photoshop 7, but every tutorial only leaves the text blurry and distorted. The tool in PS7 does pretty much the same thing.

Anyone have any suggestions? I need to get this project moving along, but I can't do anything else at the moment until the text issue is fixed.

Thanks in advance....

Autumn

Re: Text "bending" in photoshop 7 (nothing working)

This is for PS8-CS, I'm assuming PS7 is the same.

When you enter type along a path, it flows in the direction in which anchor points were added to the path. Entering horizontal type on a path results in letters that are perpendicular to the baseline. Entering vertical type on a path results in text orientation parallel to the baseline.
You can also move a path or change the shape of the path, and the type will conform to the new path location or shape.
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Select the Horizontal Type tool or the Vertical Type tool
    • Select the Horizontal Type Mask tool or the Vertical Type Mask tool.
Position the pointer so the baseline indicator of the type tool is on the path and click. After clicking, an insertion point appears on the path. The baseline indicator of the Type tool (left) and the Type tool with its baseline indicator on a path (right)
  2. Enter the type you want. Horizontal type appears along the path, perpendicular to the baseline. Vertical type appears along the path, parallel to the baseline.
To move type along a path:
  1. Select the Direct Selection tool or Path Selection tool and position it over the type. The pointer changes to an I-beam with arrow.
  2. Click and drag the type along the path. Be careful not to drag across the path.

This should keep the font relative to itself.
If you Warp Text it may change the text itself, stretching the proportions which makes it blurry.

Re: Text "bending" in photoshop 7 (nothing working)

To create a new work path:
  1. Select a shape tool or a pen tool, and click the Paths button in the options bar.
  2. Set tool-specific options, and draw the path. For more information, see Using the shape tools and Using the pen tools (Photoshop).
  3. Draw additional path components if desired. You can easily switch between drawing tools by clicking a tool button in the options bar. Choose a path area option to determine how overlapping path components intersect:
    • Add to Path Area to add the new area to overlapping path areas.
    • Subtract from Path Area to remove the new area from the overlapping path area.
    • Intersect Path Areas to restrict the path to the intersection of the new area and the existing area.
    • Exclude Overlapping Path Areas to exclude the overlap area in the consolidated path.
(This was all retrieved from the PhotoShop Help files, under 'How to work with type')
