I am using photoshop cs2 and my laptop keeps having problems now and again opening could it be that I have too much brushes installed and its casue my laptop to go really slow??? it only started doing this when i installed new brushes the other day

Is this when you're using the brushes or not?

Large brushes with complex shapes put more strain on the computer when your using them.

Also If your using windows try to keep you C: drive (or the partition windows is installed in) with plenty of free space as this increases performance, Filling this drive causes the computer to slow down significantly.

If your not using the brushes i can't see why it would do this, what are you doing when you notice the lag, or is it just in general?

i am using apple max osx

its just when i am opening it up and it cause the rest of my prog to slow down too

It's most probably your hardware, depends how many brushes you've installed but if you install masses of action files, brush sets, patterns, custom shapes etc. etc. it does slow down the loading process.

It's common for a program to be slow loading up as that is when all preferences and settings are loaded from files, which requires a lot of processing power for a while. Upgrading your RAM and Processor would help a lot with this, but it may cost you an arm and leg.
My PC is pretty much top of the range but it still lags when I open up Photoshop.

Make your default printer set to adobe pdf. That will slow the loading by a small part. But try not to keep brushes your not going to use. It will cause it to lag on loading
