WoW Banner help ($)
I own http://www.pestilentlands.dkpsystem.com/news.php
A World of Warcraft guild website.
I am struggling to design a decent banner in Photoshop, as you can see for yourself.
I have little money left in my paypal account, and I'm hoping that someone on these forums could effectively design a banner for me. Visit the website first and tell me what you think.
If you think you can help, leave a message here or message me and I will give you my MSN address. If the banner you design is really professional I will be able to pay you a few dollars, (like perhaps 6$).
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forums, I'm a noob, as you can see from my 1 post count ^^

It's something that would take less than an hour. I'm not prepared to pay more than 6 bucks for less than an hours work.

That's just over £3. You have a bit to learn about the Web Business

If you're not going to be helpful, I'd appreciate it if you just don't post.

Re: WoW Banner help ($)
Alright, but I'm just trying to assist by pointing out that I would be very suprised if anyone would create a logo for $6. You usually looking at at least $100 if not more.
Would you like me to move this to Job Opportunities?

Joel,
Jack is 100% right. $6 is a bit cheeky really.
And if you aren't prepared to pay people more than £3 / $6 per hour then good luck in life!

Re: WoW Banner help ($)
To be frank, I don't see webdesign/graphics as a 'real' job. More as a hobby.

Re: WoW Banner help ($)
haha so all those people who make their living off web design, and graphics design...thats not a job?
your paying for someones skills, just like you are if someones fixing your car, just like your paying for a doctors knowledge, a plumbers expertise. Its all about the skills, now you say you can't design a banner...so clearly you don't have the skills...therefore you need someone elses skills to help you...so you should pay just like you would any other service.
If you've found people to do it for $6 then more fool them for undermining the worth of their skills and setting themselves low standards.

Re: WoW Banner help ($)
Either you are being sarcastic, or deluded. Clearly Web Design & Development is a huge industry. Just look at all the books on the subject, all the online tutorials, and all the web design companies. I did Work Experience at a Web Design Company, and it was fantastic, but the people there worked 5 days a week for nearly all the weeks, bar a couple in summer and christmas. So they are doing that cheaply for a hobbie? Some how I think not.

I have to partially agree..... for many it is a hobby.
Many people like driving their cars, or painting portraits or flying aeroplanes and so many more examples I could give you of hobbies that cross-over with real world jobs.
Wether it is a hobby or not an offer of $6 is a remarkabally low one. I expect you know this already which is why you started by saying you have very little left in your paypal.
You've made an offer and people have given their reactions. Personally I charge £40 per hour. I outsource graphics and pay around £15 per hour to whomever I work with. $6 is an insult - it's far more than an hours work and you should think about that a little more. There is drafting of the concept..... working with you to tweak the concept and creation of a final draft and perhaps more tweaking. Thats a standard process for professional design....
I am assuming you wanted a professional job? If so, then consider professional payment. To be fair, the correct approach would be to say what you need done and ask people to give you a price. Since when do you tell the local shop how much you are going to pay for their products?

Re: WoW Banner help ($)
Maybe playing WOW is more of a real job - I'll see if someone will pay me £40 an hour to do that.
