GIMP

don't really have any quesion about GIMP, I just wonder how many users of this package could be found here?
I'm using it myself for several months(when I've switched from Windows to Linux) and it's replaced me PhotoShop without major problems.

Hi sensovision, I have the GIMP on my redhat server, which I can access remotely, but I admit I haven't really gotten around to playing with it much yet.
Are you a hardcore Photoshop user, that uses Photoshop for photo manipulations, digital art or anything else fairly advanced, or, on the other hand do you see yourself as a fairly simple user of it?
I just don't see how a piece of free software could replace a program with such depth... then again, I could just head onto my server and take a good look... lol.

As for these forums, there are many ASP programmers, so I expect very few people use Linux.

I couldn't say that I'm professionaly in PhotoShop or GIMP, although I've used them for photo editing(also final processing of 3d images from LightWave) and photo retouching, logo and banner design, and for other various things.

let me rephrase your words and ask, how could you see free piece of software as a heart of your server? probably the answer to this question would be similar answer about GIMP and PS

My point is that Photoshop is the industry leader, by a long way, and that there are no products on windows to rival it, so I don't see how there could be one on Linux...

actually biggest thing I've miss from PS is Freeform transformation, for some reason in GIMP it's not so handy and you can see result only after completion of resizing, but I hope it would be fixed in next releases.
