My Portfolio with my logo!
So I've been working on this little by little today. I drew some inspiration from another freelancer (I think) from another forum that I'm part of. I know this isn't the best! but I tried. Lemme know what you like/don't like.

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
MY first impression is that it looks like a free template.
Not Great.

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
Not sure how you see that as a free template.. looks nice and sleek though I'm not a fan of it for the purposes of a porfolio site.
Think of it this way, your website will be what your potential customers see. Even though your site will showcase your portfolio, they're likely to look at your site and decide whether they could pop their business inside your site.
If they see something as out of the ordinary and dark as your site is -- with things as specific as palm trees and water, they will think that their business would look out of place there and might not even look at your other work.
Your portfolio needs to showcase your ability to the fullest but not be so different that it "type-cast"'s you into an out of the ordindary mould.
This is a great design to have as a work in your portfolio but I would not recomment actually using it as your personal site. I would suggest something more conventional with some standout points so as to encourage potential customers to look at your work.
Hope that helps.

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
Wow, Rankuli. Awesome answer, haha. I appreciate you taking the time to explain everything to me. It makes sense. I guess I'll keep working on it so I can place it in my portfolio as a work, but probably wont use it.
Also, mainly for Vivara, I thought the purpose of a post was to either comment the template on what you dont like and why or critique it on what you don't think works and should be changed. Your post does NOTHING.

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
Hi Precyse... you spent some great time and effort on that GREAT orange logo and I can't even see it!!!! :nono:
That design is very "UFO lands on Hawaiian Island to me"!
Super cool design but as Our favorite guy Rakuli stated, probably not the best choice to attract clients from all business specturms.
I'd like to see that orange logo on white, something 2.0 web-like.
Airy, lots of white space, rounded edges. (although you logo is a triangle)
Not trying to be bossy... just offering suggestions!

Why this has to be a NEGATIVE response? I've never seen any so-called FREE templats with this kind of design out there. If so, it might cost you I think LOL
Precyse has explained to us that he design them little by little... and in fact I like the design. But as Rakuli said in his detailed post ^, I must agree with him that this design is not suitable for your portfolio. It might be perfect for your personal site tho. Unique design.
We have discussed and commented your logo and it seems like the way you put the logo in your page there is not suitable. Green logo with green background? That is wrong mate! Try putting it in the gray area or on top of your name there.
Great work!
Cheers...

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
I don't see much changes tho.. Still you have to do something about the logo!

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
what's with everybody's obsession with mint green and grey...?
they're one of the worst combinations. imo I'd ditch the background picture, ok, so you can use a 3d package, great, but is that what your website is selling ? the fact that you can make 3d digital art ? no. It's selling website design.
Actually, the more I look at it, the more it annoys me.
onto the next one.

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
I love the glossy glass nav bar, dont like the picture but the bar is great! Maybe have a silver background with other glossy or neutrally coloured items

Re: My Portfolio with my logo!
I agree with danny, not professional.
You really need some-sort of concept. Try drawing on paper first, then transfer your design to the computer. The computer is only a tool, it will not give you amazing design skills.
Precyse, you can play with that. Try brainstorming around the word, see what you come up with.
