Critique my template?
Hey all. I'm still new to the site so I'm not sure if this is the place to post this. So move it if necessary.
Well, I'm still a little new to website design as well, so dont expect a whole lot! I'm not even sure if I've designed this so it is able to be coded without a huge hassle, because I havnt learned to code just yet! Here it is! http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/co2alert.png Thanks, - Austin |

Re: Critique my template?
Your design looks nice and I think it can easily be coded, but where is your Menu button?

Re: Critique my template?
I am going to use the left side as the buttons, I just can't think of ANY way to work the text into the buttons. I might just use icons. Like home, contact, etc.

Re: Critique my template?
You could use CSS Vertical menu. There is a lot of example on here that you might want to check out:With a bit of trick on the image, you can achieve what you want

Re: Critique my template?
I really don't like that green you have for the text it stands out too much. Try playing around with some other shades of green for that.
Also, I like the colors for everything else, and I think the left menu would be fine.. but as Monie mentioned your gonna need to make a Vertical CSS Menu and probably make the text vertical as well.

Re: Critique my template?
Would it be possible to use that suckertree vertical menu (off the first link Monie gave me) with the main hover as my tabs and the sub-menu, i guess you could say, with the CSS vertical menu?
I dunno if any of that made sense, haha. @ JustinStudios I'll try and tone it down with the content text Thanks for all of the help so far everyone!!! - Austin EDIT: Anyone know whwre I may be able to get those home, contact, and other images? Last edited by Precyse; Jan 18th, 2008 at 04:22. |

Re: Critique my template?
I thought maybe if I threw in my update I could get more comments, so here it is! Tell me what you like, don't like, and what I should remove or add I guess. Just criticize as best you can.

Re: Critique my template?
Thanks. I'm not sure I ade it wide enough though, seeing as most people seem to have atleast 1024x768 nowadays. Anyone else feel the same?

Re: Critique my template?
Ok, that was really good! I'll stick with 1024x768 if I am designing my sites

Re: Critique my template?
So do you think that the template is too small, Monie?

Re: Critique my template?
I am looking at the .png file. How wide is it? I am not sure
Do you mean the container div or the whole thing?

Re: Critique my template?
So the borders I used are div containers?
But the table inside the div containers (hope I used the right terminology) is 900 pixels in width. And I've created a small update, I hope to finish this template off. This is the fiorst template I've created that I actually like. So now I'm going to try and learn how I'm suppose to slice this so the nav buttons, images, and tables all work right! Oh yeah... I like my nav too |

Re: Critique my template?
DIV Container (in my personal definition) is where you put all your content! Form your banner, navigation and content area...
900px should be OK. Regarding the "SLICING" thing.. it is not a good/recommended idea. You could use CSS to achieve the same result tho...

Re: Critique my template?
Well, don't I still need to cut this template up in order to code in any way?
BTW, thanks for all the help Monie!!! All you others ARE allowed to comment as well |

Re: Critique my template?
Well, I've tried giving the site a softer more serious look. I felt that the colors didnt really match what the site was about. I also tried to make it easier to code since I've NEVER coded before.

Re: Critique my template?
Go back to the original design. The new design looks like a spam site. Don't do it!

Re: Critique my template?
Yeah, I don't like the new blue theme neither! You better stick to your original design and work on improving it! They look's more PERSONAL
