Logo attempt

Hi people, just had my first attempt at a logo.

It's for a painting and decorating firm, just wondering what your thoughts are?

Be nice

Craig

Re: Logo attempt

Is that Arial? Horrible choice of font really.
And the colours aren't particularly snazzy.
Maybe the article on how to identify the perfect logo will help.

Re: Logo attempt

First one is a little bit better but you haven't changed much and it looks uneven.
I'd scrap it and start again..

Re: Logo attempt

Im sure you could make the logo look alot better just by adding some Blending Options, outer glow, satin? inner glow even maybe.

Mess around with the settings, they are easy to change back and can be very effective.

Good luck.

Re: Logo attempt

Hey Craig!
Those are not working for me... the AEG on the diagonal is not grabbing me and making this memorable.

The tagline should not be part of a logo. You can add that in after the fact to the website or print material. At this point just start with the business name and something else that refers to painting and decorating. A paint brush is an obvious choice. Not an art paint brush but house painting brush. Maybe a paint swish line or a dotted paint blob...
Hope that helps.

Re: Logo attempt

Nice of you to be polite but that's why we're here
I'll show you my half-attempt at a logo in a minute, though it doesn't look any good independently.

Re: Logo attempt

I created my first logo few years ago for my Uni final years thesis: Facilities Reservation System (FRS)

..and I design the logo by first drawing them with my pencil on a piece of paper to get the shape that I wanted (although you can easily do it in the Photoshop Pen tools ), that when I was so new to Photoshop, and then scanned them and later do the effect things on my PS.

You could do it in the same technique I do, but looking at your AEG letter combination, it's very hard to do it in the technique that I've used

Just an idea to you..

Re: Logo attempt

In your first post logo image, I think the way you overlap the letter can make people confuse what the actual letter are. You might think of rearrange them in a different way..

I'll see if I have an idea on this. I'll try tonight
