think of a 3d square, but without faces, just the frame....

You mean a 3D photoshop cube. It's like photoshop spikes except much simpler with a cube. Usually you can just download a brushpack. If you are actually looking to make a 3D Box sort of thing. Try here: http://webdesign.templatemonster.com...cube.4964.html

That's an excellent tutorial on how to do it.

yea like that! but the frame would be thinner. would i be best using a 3d program?? if so which??

or can this be done (not exactly like it however, just based on it) like the picture?

i dont rele know because my dad has managed to get a copy of the whole suite from work (legally i might add) and so we didnt have to pay!

I'm still using PS7 and I'm quite happy with it. I don't really feel that the new features are worth the purchase when I can accomplish everything I need to in PS7...

but i was quite happy to switch when it was free...

one thing that does not come as standard is the 3d render filter
