Image copy denied

Hiya

Wasn't sure on where to post this question...thought this place was a good place to start.

I would like to stop right clicking on my site. I know there is a code line for us dreamweaver users.

Does anyine know this line of code?

I would personally recommend that you do not prevent users from right-clicking. If you want to stop people from stealing your images then at the end of the day there's absolutely nothing you can do. You can make life harder for people by adding a no right click script or more advanced methods, but there is no method which can't be broken.

If you use the Javascript no right click script then all someone has to do to get the image is view the source, turn of Javascript or simply use a browser where the script doesn't work (like Opera).

If, however, you really really want the script, it's here:

I agree with Sirkent here. It is a fundamental usability rule not to mess with the expected behaviour of a browser. A lot of users do right clicking on a web page for various 'good' reasons like printing, adding to favorites, creating a shortcut on their desktop, opening a link in a new window and to email the page to a friend to name but a few.

Messing with how a browser is SUPPOSED TO function is one sure fire way to piss someone off..... Personally, it really gets my goat in fact.

You might try watermarking your images if they are that valuable - example using Digimarc in Photoshop

Well, I have seen people spend literally hundreds of dollars trying to protect thier images and when it's all said and done Ctrl + Print Screen defeats it everytime. There is no real way to protect your images unless you want to put them all in a java powered movie player that doesnt let you screen capture... but even that can be overrun by the numerous programs that are out today.

I think the moral at the end of the day is that, if you're that concerned with someone taking your images, don't put them on the web! There's always a trade off.
