Okay, I wanted to post this separately: The bg image on http://www.billybussey.com is awesome. On the main page, speaking of the background image, I love the effect of being behind frosted or 'scratched' glass and was wondering how this effect might be achieved?

Also, how is it that these ultra large images look so good but are very small in size (file size)???

And, most of the Flash movie is done so smoothly that it appears almost as if it were a 'movie,' if that makes any sense. How is that done?

Very nice site, although I have to critize about the lead in page. Having a professional site, sometimes web surfers have no idea how to get into the main site. One thing I would think'll benefit the site is to notify browswers like us which is intro and homepage.

Billy Bussey is a fairly well known Flash designer. His site is fairly cool, but he's in a completly different league! Most of the art you saw on that site took days/months to make, so please don't ask questions about how stuff was done!!

The background - I can only guess. He's built up a lot of layers to give the actual background. Some of the images are blurred, others are in focus, most of the colours are tweaked. Over this he's drawn a load of shapes and faded them out - it's basically that simple, but you can imagine how long it would take?

As for the 3D... don't even go there!

Ok, now onto images and small size - they add up to way over 100kb, so I don't think they're that small... you're just getting used to broadband ;-).

The Flash movie has been exported from 3DMax as a series of JPGs. This makes it fairly heavy on your processor and gives it a large file size, but produces a very smooth movie.

As always, I hate the quicktime movie entry... its nice... but its frickin Quicktime!!!

By the way, do any of yall notice on the very bottom left of the site it says Billy Bussey Sucks Just thought I'd point that one out to ya's.

My bad Sirk, I didn't see the HOSTING part of that. It made me wonder why he'd get 2A to design his site when he has created sites that are as good if not better than 2A

Thanks everyone. But how about that background coding? How did they make the image fit the entire screen? Also, how do you know what width and height to make an image so that it doesn't get cropped or chopped if you use a style fixed background tag? Or.. is there another code for setting the background to the whole screen?

I'm sure he has all those really nice, expensive filters few of us can afford. lol

You can actually find the resolution someone is using and tell the code to call on that image. Fe- a 800x 600 browser comes to your site so you use a language to make the background 800 x 600. Where if a 1024 x 768 came you would make it 1024 x 768.

Ah... very cool. I've searched through a couple of script sites and haven't found anything. I figured it had to be javascript.

Can you suggest a good JS site where I can find that code? 8)

you can get the res by using screen.height and screen.width - will return height/width in pixels - then use if statements of switch statements based on that

Ya know, I really 'do' understand some Greek, but I have no earthly idea what you're talking about. hehe I can cut and paste script, but write it? Trust me when I say.. I'm better at Greek! :wink:
