site design ideas-need comments on how to improve

Hi , as some of you already know i've started a tv mock site, im working on a new design and heres a site news panel, obviously it wont be this big when it launches and that background gradient will probably be removed. Update 2: replaced the buttons on the big image

as usual any comments welcome

bevels kinda suck dude, IMO

yeah, bevels don't add alot of character to an image.. They are very usefull for other things, but as a border your better off using something else. Not bad thouhg. The colors match well. Thats a good start. Also, remember the more graphics you use the longer it takes to load. :wink: keep workin :wink:!

Yeah kinda agree with smokie and Court Jester about the bevels, some pepl love them some pepl hate them so not sure whether to keep them or not-perhaps if i make them smaller, and/or a more similar colour to the main part of it...?
