Angry Removing the White Box around an image in Dreamweaver...

Ok, I am having a hard time trying to get rid of the wide edges or the white background Dreamweaver seems to place around Fireworks creative images. Now I've actually done an export to HTML from Fireworks, and loaded it correctly in Dreamweaver. It seems perfect in the design view, but when I preview it in the browser it has a white box behind it. That box isn't there in Fireworks (saved the image as a .PNG and used PNG32 not .gif or .jpeg) and its not in the design view of dreamweaver. Can anyone help?

IE6 and lower doesn't support opacity levels in PNGs. This is probably what you're seeing.

Now that sounds true. Because it looks just fine in Firefox2. But how do you all create such nice sites and images without the white box backgrounds? Or do you tweak the canvas sizes to be just right and not use shadows?

You just need to make the shadows have a background that matches the page background. You can use .GIF and .PNG (8 bit) for 0 opacity and 100% opacity. Just nothing in between... Unfortunately, until IE7 takes over, PNG24 support is very patchy.
