PSD Question

Hi all,

I have an old site which was developed sometime ago. Some of the images I now wish to ammed, however if I pull the GIF image into Photoshop I'm unable to amend text/image i.e. change colour/alter text descriptive etc ... I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on whether I can and/or how this could be done?

Many thanks

p.s. I have included a sample GIF image

Re: PSD Question

Its because the GIF format doesnt support any layers or anything its just a flat image, so you cant edit it unless you have the original PSD which you created the GIF from

Re: PSD Question

Another way would be to take the GIF in photoshop, and click File > Save for Web. Save it as a JPEG, and that would allow you to duplicate the layer and then edit it that way, by erasing the white text with an orange mask as it looks like a relatively simple design

Re: PSD Question

No problem.

First thing is to make sure you have the layer box open, and also that it is the JPEG version of your logo you are attempting to edit. You can open the layer box by clicking Window > Layers or else by simply pressing F7.

Once you have the Layer box open, you will see the single layer that is your "background" or, in other words your logo. Right click "background" in the Layer box, and select duplicate. This will create the exact same layer on top, but it will be editable! Any edits you do, make sure that it is on this layer, or else on another layer on top, but make sure your preliminary "background" stays as the layer firthest to the bottom!

Hope this helps PM me if you need any more help!
