I would assume that their would be, kind of like when your working in flash, and lose the edit file you can use a swf decompiler to decompile the swf. I would try searching google, or asking one of the graphic gods here, but it seems like they have all taken the weekend off, what losers!!

i don't know for sure, but i'd start cutting and pasting. vectors are somewhat easier to convert than bitmaps. truth told how would a pdf know what layer is what?

I don't think PDFs have layers... You can try, but I don't think it will work. There are several PDF conversion apps out there.

Yeah, sorry about that. I've lost too many important files by doing the same thing. Always keep backups! You can always try using a file recovery utility.
