Need to Trace this Location Map

Hi

I need to trace this location map www.clientpreview.co.uk/necr/map.png, I have downloaded Illustrator CS2, as it had the trace command with it, I have tried it and the result is not bad, but I dont know what to do next.

How do I edit certain paths etc, am I better off tracing the example by hand using the pen tool (although my illustrator skills are novice!), it just seems a very daunting task using the pen tool to do such an area.

Any help, or suggestions with this is really appreciated, as I need to crack this as soon as poss.

anyone - i have nine different maps to do by friday!

You can add/remove points from any path, and there are various pointer tools for it as well. If you click and hold on certain tool bar icons you will get more tool options. I haven't used Illustrator since version 9 but I don't imagine CS 2 being completely different.

by trace you mean it has to be vector?

flash also has a trace bitmap tool.

if it can be a bitmap id edit it in PS

Fireworks has better vector ability than Photoshop. But maybe I am off base here lol.
