Cool Re: MindSmack.com

Takes to long to load on each page. I don't like waiting...and you will find most people don't. They are their for one purpose, to see your work and view your content. Not wait...some things are worth waiting for that was not one of them...lol

Also the hosting button does not work. At least give the user a coming soon page. I hate to be mean, but this is just my opinion, but the color of the website is nice, and the website looks professional, it is just to slow…

Re: MindSmack.com

Good Grief... another example of using flash for all the wrong things. I couldn't find even one sensible use. All you have done was make me wait and wait wondering WTF is wrong with the server hosting the site that it's acting so slow... OH WAIT... that was all done on PURPOSE?????????? OUCH

Re: MindSmack.com

Incorrect use of flash 1.

The information is too small to read... I know I'll make it one size bigger....ooooh, no I won't because it's not text.

Incorrect use of flash 2.

Ahh, it's finally loaded I'll start to have a look arou....oh wait theres more still appearing. Done, I'll get to it then...oh wait there's more... Ahh the hell with this *click*

Incorrect use of flash 3.

I don't have flash plugin installed but I'll probably still be able to find out some information....Errrrrm, no.

When I surf the internet I want my information instantly as do the vast majority of users...We pay lots of money for broadband internet access so we don't have to wait but then... you make a site that makes us wait on purpose.... Do you see the issues here?

Sorry to sound harsh because you are quite clearly a very prfessional outfit. The quality of the flash you've used illustrates this but you need to take a long hard look at this site and say "Ahh, yes, I should have just used XHTML on that part" and "oh yeah should have just used Lists for my navigation"

Re: MindSmack.com

Well, I have T1, so I didn't notice any loading problems, but I did get annoyed that once something was loaded, I still had to wait for far too long to see the content. It's one of the better Flash sites I've seen, though. I highly recommend you get rid of the moving navigation in your portfolio. It was very hard for me to select a client.

Mreine, Flash is Flash. It's not Flash if it acts like an XHTML and CSS driven website. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather gaze at a static site, but he's a Flash designer! This is merely what some clients want, even if it's not us.

Come on! We all know what Flash is, what do you expect from designers' websites who specialize in Flash?! There's no reason to knock it when he/she is doing the only sensible thing to do. If someone doesn't have the Flash plugin installed, do you think they're going to be looking for a website made in Flash?

I do agree with the opinion that the font size is too small. I find it hard to read with the screen just inches from my face. Offer a text-size changer.

Yes.... I see what you're saying ryan... I guess the biggest problem I have is that there is no alternative to any of it....Accessiblity has gone totally out the window

Re: MindSmack.com

I agree to some extent. I think an XHTML/CSS version of your site with a not so intruding link to it in the Flash version would be absolutely awesome. If nothing else, it'd be good for search engines.

Re: MindSmack.com

Love the site! It's very professional but screams of cool! If I were in the market for a flash site, I'd hire ya!

Change the navigation if you want a perfect score.... I was having a hard time zooming in on one selection and selected a few options I didn't want because the nav was moving so fast!

Re: MindSmack.com

I hate waiting for websites to load. You as a flash design, should try to give flash a good name. I understand websites like this...
http://www.neostream.com/

This website takes some time to load, but your website takes time as well but has no animation that is worth waiting for. Also you should build a separate XHTML/CSS website for google, and for dial-up users.

Yes, absolutely. Thats the idea I was striving for. Not so much an alternative because for someone who arrives at your site without the flash plugin it's already too late, they can't see anything.. What I suggest is start with the "low end" XHTML version and make it clear that they can view the all singing all dancing flash version if they want to.

Well, that's not what I meant; I think Flash should come first in this case.

Re: MindSmack.com

aaah yes.. I see what you're saying but imagine a locked door. Most people have the key but you don't... the key you need is the other side of the locked door....I hope that analogy makes sense.

Not so...

If you go here without a flash plug-in you will get a picture, which tells you to upgrade, but in the near future I will have it link to the XHTML website. But you get the picture...lol

Re: MindSmack.com

Well kinda...I don't like the design of that website, it was our old design, and I am to busy to redesign it...lol

But actually, I have several company's, it is part of a marketing strategy I have, be your own competition, vary the prices of the different company's to strive to become your own competition...it seems to work...lol

Re: MindSmack.com

awesome feedback! i know most of what everyone has said has been mentioned. this site is about 3 weeks old now so they are working on the lower end site, enhancing functionality and creating something to blow away anything people have seen online before based on what they say on the home page. i think all in all the effects and the folio are worth waiting for.

Re: MindSmack.com

I've never heard of that idea before, using a background image to let people know that they need the Flash plugin. I like it.
