gamevoxel.com

Hey there. I'm new to web design but I've always been interested in it. I'm coming from a c++ game programming background. Anyway, I thought it would be cool to learn php and make something with it. So, I started working on www.gamevoxel.com. The site isn't close to be completely functional as of yet, but some stuff works. I'm mostly concerned about the design, since I'm not really an artist, but I tried to make it look pretty decent.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could critique my site.

www.gamevoxel.com

Thanks

Re: My game programming/dev site

Hi there. I've been focusing on the main page for the most part, but the members/contact us/registration links work as well.

Re: My game programming/dev site

Hey, welcome to WF...

I can tell you're from a programming background by the way you've indented your html... How geeky is that!? lol

Anyway.

The good.
  • Love the colours and the design... nice modern layout.
  • Simple to navigate.
  • You have a nice three column layout. See if you could make it liquid. If you could achieve that then it would be Incredible.
The bad.
  • Make your text darker. Light grey on white is hard to read and isn't very good for accessiblity.
  • Remove the bullet points form your navigation lists with CSS. Any kind of ASCII art or standard Bullets makes a site look amature.
  • Home page alone had 40 validation errors. Most of these are because you have chosen an inapropriate DOCTYPE for the type of page you're doing. This type of page really lends itself to XHTML.
Overall, a nice looking site but some attention needs to be paid to the behind the scenes stuff before it becomes too unmanagable. As a programmer I'm sure you'll appreciate this.

Re: My game programming/dev site

Looks clean, validate your code, id loose the tables and use layers in css!

Clean up some of the graphics and text issues, give abit of life (colour) and its cool.. 40 validation errors tho :S whoa
