Re: Sap.com

Hmm, your banner with the logo on the left is a little plain, just grey like that.

Other than that I think the design is OK.

Make your navigation give some feedback though. A colour change or a underline... whatever.

Re: Sap.com

Thanks for the feedback minute44,

Well the problem that i faced while designing the website interface was with the logo itself. It does not fit in my designs easily. I have to design interfaces according to the logo.

Hey thats not banner, it is the outer portion of the web page which is common for other web pages also.

Yeah i think we need to work on this, and this is something i was thinking to do next. lol we have same taste

We have already implemented this underline idea here and will be implementing on the left nav too.

Thanks once again minute.

Re: Sap.com

No its up now, I have proposed the left nav matter and can only make changes if get the approval, So far i know it is not a bug but we were asked to leave the left nav intentionally. We fixed a few QA related problems yesterday thats why it was down hardly for 2 minutes.

you can check it now Sap.com

Yeah was NTL down mate, not to worry should have assumed that myself but i was tired :P

Looks good, the only thing i could say is get rid of the tables and use CSS layers instead, stops the screen from going blank and re-rendering the menu area.. dno just one though, would be a ballache of a job to do though and the effect wouldnt warrant the time to do it, maybe something for the future though?

Was the site designed to be viewed at like 1152x864? cos it seems to fill alot of my page and im at 1280x960, theres a tonne of un-used space on the navbar to the right of the text, you could trim it slightly? possibly by about 50 or so px.

overall nice site mate

Hey thanks for the critiques, but darudeuk the space in the right side of navbar is also left intentionally for sub menus, i mean if you go inside a link more sub links are supposed to appear on the left navbar and even more sublinks in the same manner. so just for overall consistency in the design it was done intentionally.

and yeah the website was designed and tested on 1024 X 768 resolution and even higher.
The results from QA team were positive.

Thanks for taking time for the critiques.

once again i thank all the guys for taking time to test the designs.

Red face Re: Sap.com

hey no problems, i did include the submenu size in my critique perhaps an extra 1px spacing in the main text area, or slightly having it larger, or the sub slightly smaller.

You may want to try and validate your site too:
Failed validation, 99 errors

Anyway GL in the future!

Re: Sap.com

Design is extremely nice overall. I really like the way the active menu link blends directly into the border - very nice effect.

Understanding that the site is good to very good overall, here are the things I might look at:

1) Already have discussion about the menu. You really need some sort of hover effect. This is a very substantial fault.

2) I agree that the logo is too small.

3) The colors are off. The hues themselves are fine, but you have too wide a range of values -- the colors in the slideshow aren't in the same palette as the blue/grey. Mostly they just need a little grey.

4) Like so many companies, there is no clear indication of what SAP is or does. You need a little crystal-clear 10 word description of the company's business near the top, the same way a store needs a little sign that says "dry cleaner" or "attorneys-at-law". Here, take a clue from someone with a famous brand name:

Yes i agree.

Yeah and it does not fit easily in the designs, looks different from the rest of the interface but we always try our best to overcome this problem. ahh we cant change the logo lol

intentionally did that because support department wanted it that way

Umm I disagree on the no. 4 point, because the title clearly says "
SAP - Business Software Solutions Applications and Services"
which is appropriate i think!
please check my replies in the quote itself , my replies are bold.

Thanks

Re: Sap.com

i think the colours are fine too, perhaps replace that grey at the top though with something more exciting

The only other thing i noticed is with the size of the page your fonts are quite small on other area's, and i think that flash area quite blatantly helps point out what sap does and is about.

This site is good, just needs validation to help improve accessibility.

and i do agree with "masonbarge"about the hover-over effect. Its nice to see where your mouse is

However mason needs to maintain awareness in the area of contect and some design elements, as quite alot of the time this is completely out of the designers control.
