CF Designz Ideas?
Hi All,
You may have seen me want critique off my website a while back, well I have been a bit lazy, and haven't really got around to changing my website, so I am kicking myself into shape, so please help me.
Ok, I created a website for my webdesign portfolio, but I don't no there is just something that is not quite happening to my website, I don't know what it is, but needs a little something, I was hoping this is where you folks can come into this.
Here is my original, or close to it of my website:
http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk/sample1/index.htm
And here is my second attempt, not too much different:
http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk/sample2/index.htm
I felt it needed something else, and I know that the new added feature the picture of me and the saying, looks just plonked there, but I don't no how else I can add it!
So can anyone help me, with what I need to change/add to my website, to give it that little something, because I have been wracking my brains for days now.
Thanks alot
Cracka

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
I still don't like the images of the sites in the top banner, sorry. I suggest you get rid of it completely.
I would prefer to see the image of you on the left with a slightly smaller quote to the right and then the "CF Designs" circle thing as a giant watermark in the background, in the center.

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions, I will have a look at changing that one now, and will show you that sample!
Does everyone else not like my header? with the images of my websites? because I kind of liked it, because I thought it was something a little bit different.
But once I did add the image vector of me and the quote, I thought this did look good, but just didn't no how to incorporate this into my website with the header image. But I will have a look at what it looks like with just that on it's own.
So shall I keep the navigation? and what about the colour scheme? is that ok?
I will have a go at creating a new sample now

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
It reminds me of the England flag. I think overall it is alot better than some sites out there but your right in saying there isn't really anything that makes it stand apart.
I like the nav bar looks good and easy to locate.
If it is just you working for CF designz then referring to yourself as we is misleading and takes credit away from your work.
I agree with removing the images out of the banner I think it is making the page to in your face.
But hey take what I say with a pinch of salt, I would struggle making something like that and in no way does it look like a bad page.

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
Hi,
Ok thanks alot for your input, well my original idea was to have my work showcased in the header, but now I have had a few not negative, but suggestions to drop it, so I think that is the best way forward.
I will work on a new sample later on in the day without that banner and see what you all think!
Thanks

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
Your featured work isn't symmetrical you have 2 samples next 2 each other and then a gap and your' third sample.

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
i am starting to really like this now. I don't know why you are using an image for the quote though - why not just use text?

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
So you are suggesting that I stick with this design now? because once I am finally happy, and everyone agrees, then I will make the rest of the website.
Yeah I suppose your right, would be better with text, and better for seo, just I wanted a different font, I think that is why I went for this method. What font do you suggest I use?
Thanks alot for your input

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
Line 82
- Code: Select all
</div> <!-- Footer -->
That's one too many closing tags i think
Just fyi
and
- Code: Select all
<link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" />
Should mention type="text/css"
I don't think it affects validation mind
I think you need to add some depth to the site

See here
You can create the exact same look without images.

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
I have now changed the header to have text not just an image. Check the link below:
http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk/sample4/index.htm
Ok, so now I am happy with the design, I am going to do the other pages, but a quick thing, what else can I add to my homepage? because I feel it is a bit bare, and needs something else? any suggestions?

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
I Was thinking about having some kind of sidebar? that had a little contact form at the top, and a testimonials thing below it? do you think this would look good a professional?
Below is an example of what I mean:

Let us know what you think.

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
maybe have the testimonials, but have them after your portfolio images.
i think all this needs is more text, more of an explanation of what you can offer, services etc.
apart from that you just need to implement a few little tricks here and there.
take a look at diego's site and roll over the "professional web design..." in the top right hand corner. - cool eh!
also, at the bottom of the diego's and mike's pages you will see a little book mark tool, just so that your visitors can help promote you, and find you later very easily at a later date.

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
I created a new sample with the form and testimonials in, tell me what you think:
http://www.cfdesignz.co.uk/sample5/index.htm
Yeah I agree with you welshstew, I do need more text, but I don't no what else to add? because you said tell them what I can offer, and services and so on, but I have a services page, that tells them exactly this, so I don't want to repeat myself.
Cheers for them links, Diego's website looks like its in the middle of change, because at the moment nothin works! :S so I don't really know what you are saying, got any other examples?
Cheers for the other link, I will think about implementing this at a later stage.
Thanks

Re: CF Designz Ideas?
yes but why not put all the info on the service page on the homepage. i personally do not like to have to s search through the site find out what its about. If you put on the home page customers will see what you can do right off the bat.
