I know its another profile website, but there's a reason why there is so many. They just work.

Here is my humble profile/social network site. Its relatively new and I need you to give a successful critique, be brutal!

Good Luck, I know you'll need it. Like you've always needed the luck to look though my web sites. I hope this one is a whole lot better. I hope !

Re: Personja.com Profiles (another one)

My first thought is it looks nice, but the links at the top look like ads to me. I like the green color too. I also think the ajax on the first page is jumpy. When you click "top" or "online" the loading indicator comes up and makes the whole thing jump. I would think of using some kind of javascript to set a fixed height on it when the AJAX request starts and once it is finished remove the fixed style.

Re: Personja.com Profiles (another one)

The colors, placement, and size are much like the ones people use as ads at the top of the page on some blogs I've been to. It isn't so much on other pages as the home page. The way that the large image separates the nav from the rest of the content makes them look like ads. They look somewhat like this picture http://bp2.blogger.com/_YbURk67VlGk/...teer_after.PNG as I said it's more on the home page than the other pages.

The subnav under the main navigation looks funny too because it is so big and there isn't really a clear separator between the two. They kind of mesh together.

Oh and as I browsed around more I noticed some things. First of if the site is open to the public it would be in beta not alpha. Not a huge deal, but still. Also there are some spelling mistakes such as hoping instead of hopping on this page http://personja.com/news_view.php?ID=2 Those little things detract from the overall site though.

Re: Personja.com Profiles (another one)

Well whether it is your forte or not I was simply critiquing and telling you what I found.

And no there is no boundary on the home page, as you can see in the screenshot. And even in the screenshot you posted there is no boundary between the primary and secondary navigation. The separator you have only marks the current page, but does not seperate the the two levels of navigation very well.

Now you can take it or leave it, but I was simply trying to help.

Re: Personja.com Profiles (another one)

Ok, I whipped this up real quick as an example. I put in two screenshots in the psd so you can see how it looks on different pages. Just turn the top layer on ("another screenshot") or off. That is just an idea, but I think it looks ok and would be a lot easier to see where you are and where you're going and all that jazz.

Oh, and I'd try to use some javascript and center the sub navigation under the hovered over link. Not a big deal, but if it can be done it would be nice I think.
