2 Hour Website
One of the sites I did at work today, what do you think?
I don't think it's too bad for a couple hours work.

Re: 2 Hour Website
your thumbnails are contained in divs, you should only call a div once per page, if your calling the same style multiple times you should use .class
That's why your page fails validation, just switch it to .class and it should validate
That's for your gallery page, and then on the other pages you also define the div #clearthis more than once, so you should use .class again.
Personally i quite like the design, i think it's quite nice and fitting for it's task.
That's all i have to say about it so far

Re: 2 Hour Website
Hi,
My first thought was a roof company and a yellow background, I was kind of shocked, but the more I browsed the site, there more I liked it, I can see why yellow with the name of your company
I really like the look of this website, I would change what was suggested above, that is a nesessity.
In the main header, I don't like the 2 images on the right, but I think because of the work they do, they may have to include that there, but overall nice looking website, well done.

Re: 2 Hour Website
shawzy, for two hours this is some impressive stuff!
I like it! It just sticks and grows on you. Great to navigate, clear and easy to read - clutter-free without feeling too empty
I agree that the header image throws you a little - like crackafaza said, I too thought it was a roofing service at first glance!

I think bocaj means one id per page

I sometimes encase them in id's prior to switching them over.

Re: 2 Hour Website
Cheers Guys,
The reason I get it done in 2 hours is I have different templates that I use have made and then when I do a site I look what template would fir well on the change the graphics and colour schemes but the coding is more or less already compete so I don't have to start from scratch.
It usually takes 1 hour for the design/graphic and then about another hour putting it all together.

Re: 2 Hour Website
i like the design nice and clean and to the point, from a design point of view though it might be something to consider that your header of the page (the roof image and the accreditation links and images) are the same on each page, which is fine but people tend to be hooked by what they can see on their page without scrolling down, unless they are looking for something specific a bit like the first couple of paragraphs of a novel etc.
would it be worth seeing if you could scale some of it down and fitting slightly more information which is relative to the company the design is for on the intial screen size so that people are offered some information aswell as the company identity?
sorry if my comments are out of place, they are in no way meant to offend

Re: 2 Hour Website
^Having said that, I have to agree too. The header image is quite prominent, and being the same on every page gets a little familiar. As bonnit said, either shrink it or change it per-page perhaps?

I tend to agree with your comments anyway. I will maybe address this in future sites.

Re: 2 Hour Website
Not bad for 2 hours!
On the contact page, you have 3 images at the top: two of them have an alt, but the one to the index.html page doesn't have an alt. I would put one. It kind of threw me off track, because I wasn't sure what it was linking to.
Going back to the contact page, I would get the external links to open in a new window, because it shows that the website being viewed was developed by someone else.
Also, how come the Google maps are different styles (map, sat, ter)? I think it should be consistent - I would go with map...and they take a while to load in IE, but I don't think this could be fixed.

No worries, the noob questions are the easiest to answer
You need to have something like <a href="the website url" target="_blank">Your link to viewers</a>

Re: 2 Hour Website
or you can do it via JavaScript if you want to set the window size and preferences (buttons / status bar / resizable..), then you set the new Javascript created window location property.

Re: 2 Hour Website
I'm not usually a fan of yellow backgrounds but you've managed to pull it off - it's a really nice website. And in only 2 hours? Well done!

Re: 2 Hour Website
I don't usually like yellow either but this is a nice calming shade with bright clear photos, i like the design and love the slogan "let us take the sting out of your roofing costs and problems " did you think of it? I don't know anything about web design but from a customers point of view this is a very good site and sums up what the company does.

Re: 2 Hour Website
Very very nice site. For 2 hours thats amazing work. I really like the black-yellow-black styling to it. All the fonts and graphics look very clean and crisp.
There seems to be a little issue at the bottom of the gallery.html page. you put two <div id="footer"> tags.

Re: 2 Hour Website
4/5 I was astonished at how the use of your color scheme blended the sight and made it very useful and attractive. I feel little is needed in improvement except more text would help SEO, and the gray highlight really doesn't match your scheme.
