Hi everyone,
I would appreciate some critiques about my website that I made for a college course. Website url: http://acadunix.algonquincollege.com...tore/index.php My main concern at the moment is to see whether or not my main page would persuade someone to purchase an item or at least inquire for further information. Comments about some of the other web pages are also welcome. Please note that when clicked, the buttons labelled “Add to cart”, “Buy now”, “Go” and “submit” and links labelled “View Cart” and “checkout” will go to an under construction page since the site is still under construction. Thank you for taking the time to evaluate my website. I look forward to reading your comments. |

Re: Please critique my website
hi,
new here myself also when i go shopping on the internet the 1st thing i look for is the product, the next is the website itself. My opinion and remember its mine alone is if the website doesnt look good i think the people running the show wont look after me or my money. basically the shop is your face and if it looks "scruffy" i wouldnt give you my money (not saying your site looks scruffy)it just doesnt install any confidence in me as a potential customer. you have everything you need on the page the product, the special offers it just didnt "feel" right i know thats a bit vague but this is my 1st time giving my opinion and i only have my own shopping experiences to go by. |

Re: Please critique my website
Hi Reggy,
Thanks for your comments. For me any opinion is only going to make the website better. I admit that this is my first time making this kind of website. It still needs alot of tweaking. |

Re: Please critique my website
First of all, the logo doesn't do it for me. Use a more creative font, maybe give it a background.
There's no point in having the special offers as images, they could be done using some CSS and some text. Your site is nicely done in CSS and XHTML, don't see a table in sight. A couple of CSS errors for using the color "slategray," but it should be easy enough to fix. The nav could use a little more spice, and maybe make the site a little more colorful? Other than that, great site.

Re: Please critique my website
Hi CloudedVision,
You comments are much appreciated. These are the kind of comments that I was hoping to receive. I will be changing the logo to make it more pleasing and better looking. I will also be adding more colors. |

Re: Please critique my website
Very plain and "dry-looking" site. When I say dry, I mean the colors look very washed out and there's way too much white space, especially in the header. I would definitely design a nicer logo in a different font and go easy on the photoshop effects (bevels are ugly, imo).
I would use a nice image in your header with the logo on top of that, maybe in a white font? The elements are all very boxy and look very unfinished. Boxy isn't bad, but it just doesn't look right.. Change your font! Times New Roman is an immediate cue to a site being unfinished since it's the default font for browsers in most cases. All of your graphcs/images look very compressed and the text in the side graphics looks pretty bad.. The graphic in the header on the right is chopped off on the bottom too; maybe it's supposed to touch the nav bar, but it Firefox there's a space there. Sorry if I'm being harsh, I just wanted to give you as much critique as possible! Thanks |

Re: Please critique my website
I think the functionality of the site works, but the asthetics are low brow.
The logo needs to be updated and the white background makes it seem unfinished. Here are two articles you should check out. http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20050725.html http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008...ood-practices/ I think these two articles will help you out. I never liked working on e-commerce sites for some reason, I didn't like php I guess. But you seem to have the foundation down. admin delete, please dont post links to your own site or any site that you are associated with within replys Thanks, JJ Last edited by saltedm8; Apr 2nd, 2008 at 22:08.
