Hi all...

I need a replay to my school website assignment. The main page is the most important page: Do you think it is attractive for you as a user?

The website is not complete, it is under construction.
This is the URL:

http://acadunix.algonquincollege.com/~alsh0059/Ass2/catalogue.html

Thanks to your response...

Re: My School Website

I think it could use some spice; it's pretty plain right now with a solid background and mostly text. And the color change when hovering over the links could have more contrast.

I do like the left justification. Not many websites do that.

Thank you for your replay...

As my website is only for school assignment, I only did the basic requirements for the assignment. right now I'm considering the attaracting of the main page.

Thanks Treks again

Re: My School Website

That makes sense. What're you being graded on?

Overall, I think it's very pleasing, with a nice color scheme.

And I like that it's not like most other sites. The left justification, the blue background, and the uneven double line, for example, stand out.

Re: My School Website

A few things I need to get off my chest:

The html doesn't validate (42 errors)
You're using tables
The contrast between bg and main fg colour makes it awkward to read - not enough contrast

Other than that, try to put some thought in to how you can 'split' the page up. Give things like the introduction text its own clearly defined space. Everything is all jumbled together right now with no clear layout. A general tidy up of some of the images, for instance the 'Order Now' one, wouldn't go amiss either.

Re: My School Website

Trex, are me and you looking at the same website here?
Logo is stretched, hardily a logo at all. Colours hard to read. Navigation only displays on the Home Page.

Re: My School Website

The overall grade will be if the main page will be attractive for a user or not. Do you want to buy from this website or not...It is only sample but when I add more pictures and flash animation, I think it will be more attractive....

Thank you for you comments...

Don't concern yourself with more pictures and especially not flash until you've sorted out what you already have - no point adding more ingredients to a bad recipe. Adjust what you have, get that right, then think about adding more.

Naturally it's unpolished; it's a student project. But I like that it isn't (at least it doesn't appear to be) just a copy of the design from some other website. And I still like the color scheme (that's just personal taste).

I do think the images would look better without the poorly scaled text - just white that out. And the logo might be better without the black background.

Adobe just made a free web version of Photoshop available, you could use that to make the logo transparent.
