Critique Requested
Hi, all.
By some strange accident, my original web site achieved the No. 1 Google and Yahoo search result for one of my key search phrases, "wisconsin technology attorney". I have begun to redesign my site, attempting to build upon this SER success. Kindly review my new site (as yet incomplete) at www.nuckleslaw.com. You can view the old site as it has been cached. New site has a blue-grey theme. Old site was gold, white and grey. I am using <h> tags for the first time in my new site, and in addition to your other thoughtful comments and observations, I would especially appreciate hearing your thoughts on the best way to use <h> tags in my new site. Thanks for all of your help. Daisy |

Re: Critique Requested
you should only use one H1 tag in your document really, the others should be h2 or less.
as for the design, your homepage seems a little 'texty', i would reduce the amount of text, maybe include some relevant images to spread it out. your user should not have to scroll a lot down the page to view relavant information, place the important pieces of information where the user can see on the navigation you have missed out the S from services overall a good site, a few little things i would change, also check out the few errors in your code http://validator.w3.org/check?verbos...kleslaw.com%2F hope this helps craig

Re: Critique Requested
Thanks, Craig.
Do you mean one H1 tag per page, or one for the entire site? Daisy |

Re: Critique Requested
one h1 for each page is the usual way to do it, this is one of the main things that search engines look at when searching your code so it is good to have one that describes your site.
One popular technique is to have a H1 such as Nuckleslaw - Law Firm Dedicated to Information Technology Procurement and Technology Dispute Resolution and use an image replacement technique such as this http://www.stopdesign.com/articles/replace_text/ to replace this with your logo or something similar, this way in your code you have a good h1 for seo purposes, but in your actual site you do not have long headers getting in the way of content Hope this helps craig

Re: Critique Requested
is it really necessary to have such a large background image when all of it isn't even shown?
it took a few seconds for it too load, and the whitespace that was there while it was loading, and made the sight look really amateur-ish. Also, the font on the logo could be improved. And, less importantly, the favicon is bright blue, and the sight is tones of grey.

Re: Critique Requested
Okay, dumb question. My background image gets full view on a large monitor. Is there a quick way to scale the image--or for that matter, an entire page--to various screen sizes? Can I do this within my style sheet? Is use of "100%" part of that process?
Thanks, Daisy |
