Most of my sites look soo bad in firefox, if firefox becomes more common I would have to do soo much work, I should fix all my sites now.
I started making web sites for people one year ago, All of my sites look ok in IE but many look soo bad in fire fox, even my web design home page, oh my god I hate firefox, if I had to make all my sites compatible with fire fox (as I should) I would have to test every design aspect twice while developing new sites, and not to mention the amount of work I have to do to fix up the many sites I have already made, Check out my portfolio it’s a firefox disgraces. I hate that they are going to make me do so much more work. Soon they are coming out with those $200 laptops that use firefox, in a few years everyone is going to have one or something that use firefox, I hope by then firefox has become more compatible with designs that look fine in IE, if not I am in allot of trouble!, pity theres no easy way out. Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
Hmm, Interesting.. You mean you like Microsoft not sticking to rules? IE is the browser "bending" webdesign rules (set by w3c)..

I think things are just not displayed right, fire fox display everything and the code works, but often it is displayed badly and things clash, Yes I think this is Fire fox problem, most of the time the code does not excuse the mess that fire fox displays it as…!
Again I want to say, my code works fine, it just looks very bad, ie tables have funny alignment, things are in front of things when they should be behind, and some other stuff this funny extra spacing (one extra line down) is what I really dont like, I am yet to find out what is causing it Last edited by karinne; Sep 18th, 2007 at 12:26. Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
This post would be better off in the cafe unless you are here for a critique.
You are seriously misled my friend! Your mindset and information are backwards. You must design for Firefox so I'd suggest you get busy! Now do you want a critique or do you want this thread moved/closed? |

Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
Yes I want a critique and help, tell me how bad you think the site is in firefox please, do I need to fix it
But I also want to talk about my problem here I think my main problem is with <div>'s, they dont fit into things in the way they do with IE (the normal way). I have never seen a problem that IE has with them that firefox does not so I dont see why fire fox just displays them in the same way as IE Last edited by vandiermen; Sep 18th, 2007 at 12:21. Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
You are obviously using Dreamweaver in design view. To be a professional, you must learn to handcode, use DW in code view and you must get away from relying on tables.
Second step, learn to code for firefox, IE (old and new), Safari, Opera, and other less common browsers. Your overall design is not bad. But like you said it's broken. It's well layed out and easy to navigate. Oh my goodness, My super Resume site is broken in IE and FF. Bill Hayes has a Flash bug that pops up... I'd say you have a busy week ahead of you fixing all these sites! |

Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
You can delete the thread if you like (I have saved it on my hard drive so I can post it somewhere else), but please dont move it because it would look weird.

Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
This is what the site looked like in FF when I posted this thread
screenshot2007_032.jpg an hour latter I saw that some of the pages had this problem and others did not, so I isolated the difference, and added "<div class="clear">" at the end of code and it fixed it (not that IE needed this) Last edited by karinne; Sep 18th, 2007 at 14:07. Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
Here's a great article from our newsletter Creative Coding - Dont- use IE for testing - that might help you understand why you should check your site in Firefox, IE6 and 7, Opera and Safari when designing your site.

Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
Don't be sorry! It's ok!
I hate IE 6.. does that make you feel better? It takes a little adjusting to change! |

Re: My super resume
Thanks
Yes the understanding makes feel better Just wandering.. if you design a site for firefox does it normally look good in IE as well ? |

Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
Depends on the site. Often you have to do a few tweaks specifically for IE. On some of my sites, I have not had to do anything at all. Again it depends.

Re: My super resume - I Hate firefox !
I cant remember the last time i had to hack/change for IE. I test on both browsers when coding (dual monitors are the best!).

Re: My super resume
I went through and fixed a few of my sites, it was not too hard and I guess they will work better on a number of browsers now
