IT-Globalized.com - new online freelancing website

Hi All

IT-Globalized.com is a new online Freelancing Website with about 150 freelancers registered. Thought I'd just put our hand out there and ask for some feedback on the design aspects of the website.

I guess the following are my key questions I have:
1. Do you get what the site is about in the first 5 seconds?
2. If not, what do you think could be done to enable that?
3. Any enhancements you might think of to convey the essence of the message below in the first 5 seconds of being on the site?
4. Any general improvement suggestions?

Oh, in case you don't get what the site is about; hahaha there's the concept in a nut-shell, I guess essentially what we try to convey in the first 5 seconds people visit the site:
IT-Globalized.com exists to connect small and medium business outsourcing service providers regardless of locations, and assist them to develop a successful relationship, be it onshore or offshore, project work, contracts or permanent employment.

The design it nice but not particularly original. It's a little bland but it does do the job. There is a lot of info on this homepage and I donn't get any sense of what you do. A simple tagline would do the trick. 'Outsourcing services' or whatever. Currently I have to read through your opening blurb to get a vague idea of what you do. Your above description is better than the one on your site.

You need to dump the tables, inline CSS and inline JS. Clean up your code, its all a bit messy at the minute.

I like the look of the site, I think it works for what you do.

In terms of conveying the purpose in the first 5 seconds, I don't think you're quite there. You do have a sort of tag line under the welcome heading saying 'An online marketplace connecting your business with quality service providers', but it's far too small - I didn't notice it till I'd looked at everything else on the page. So I think you should make that bigger so that it's seen right away.

As for the wording of the tag line, this is kind of a subtle point, but I don't think you should say 'connecting YOUR business with quality service providers' because that makes it sound like you are only really providing a service for those businesses, whereas you are actually (as I understand it) providing a service for the businesses and the service providers. Also, I would specify what business rather than just saying business. I don't think I'm explaining clearly here what I'm saying , but as an example, I might make the tagline just say:

'Connecting IT businesses with quality service providers'

No it's difficult to tell what you are very quickly.
I'd delete this entire writeup I'd use this area to shout out what you do.

Thanks for the feedback people - we will definitely work on the tag-line and visibility thereof, and probably ask for a bit more feedback once we have that, hehe =).

Oh, just a note from Pete's response - the inline javascripst is from statcounter; other bits and peices of JavaScript are mostly generated from ASP.NET, not hardcoded.

Oh, just an interesting bit of trivia.. interesting how the webforumz doesn't pic up the google ranking due to the fact that the site homepage is SSL =).

Hmm... That is strange.

But then, neither does the google toolbar, so I think this is by design.

However, I have amended the tool to look at non-ssl versions and the page has a true PR of 1

Yup, I definitely think this is by design from Google as well . That's probably also why the Alexa ranking doesn't show up.

Nope... again this is by design.

It will show up once you have a ranking.

Yep it is by design from Alexa (i.e. that they don't show this, or cannot show this for SSL), but we do have a ranking.

Not particularly high at the moment though, but the traffic is definitely on the way up=).

Just from the Alexa Traffic stats as is at the moment... I guess it's not possible to capture this programatically since we use SSL?

Our alexa rank now has improved to 735,522 on a 3 month basis, but still it doesn't show up in the header of this page :/. Oh well... We'll be working on a homepage revamp over the next month or so, so I'll let this thread sink, and post a thread in a while for a comparison of the two layouts..
