I have been working in this for simonb... I like the general look of it, but I feel its missing something!

Any suggestions on what to add... or take away?

Thanks,
Pádraig

Re: Vista Layout

Works 4 me. Looks ok for a start. Like crackersficus said, the menu is too far to the left. Maybe the menu should come up from the bottom? or with a start button? I mean, if you're trying to copy Vista... The colors are good, but I think (I know this might be hard to do) some shadows around the menu and content would help with the Vista look.

Re: Vista Layout

It's nice but you need more. The p in the header is ruining the reflective effect also. If a word is supposed to be standing on a reflective surface then you can't have one letter going through that surface. It breaks the illusion. The design needs more sheen and gloss as well more depth and, dare I say it, floatiness. The vista look is all transparency and floating so keep that in mind as you go.

The nav is too far over too, as people have already said.

Good start,

Pete.

Re: Vista Layout

Yep, I already know about the menu being so far over. I'll try and fix that!

I don't know why the server not found thing came up? I'll speak to my hosting company about it!

I was going to but a start button above the menu to see what it looks like, and I'll try and do something with the p.

This was kinda hard because I don't have a clue what vista looks like!

Re: Vista Layout

lol your desinging a Vista layout and you don't run Vista! Impressive!

If you want a good result imo you should really try and find somewhere where you can use it just to get a feel.Maybe a wqeb cafe somewhere?

There are a few vista features which could sit quite nicely on a website. For example the cascading window effect when you do Alt+Tab might be a nice idea for text boxes on a particular page.

I really liked your portfolio site, but at the moment this one doesn't have the pzazz(sp?) it needs to be a Vista site.

Re: Vista Layout

Turns out the client doesn't want it, so I'll just try and sell it as it is.
