This is a collection of forms to help people who are interested in their health, especially body fat, exercise, and nutrition. It is primarily a public service site, but I do have some advertising. There are three main sections.

"My Body" gives information about the measurements and health implications of the user's physique.

"Exercise" primarily provides a place to derive accurate calculations of calories burned by exercise and has a log feature (which cannot yet be saved) to help users determine their average daily calorie expenditures over periods of time.

"Nutrition" is three search engines for a database to help with determining the nutritive content of food. The best feature is "Search by Nutrient", which allows you to search for foods high or low in a number of basic nutrients. When a search is finished, you can click through to the nutritional content of any food returned, usually in several different portion sized.

The database is a huge undertaking. It's up to about 8,000 entries, but I have thousands of more foods that need to go in, and also dozens of less-known nutrients, especially phytochemicals. First on the list are omega-3 and omega-6 oils, and "glycemic index" (which is not a nutrient but is a critical food property for people with diabetes, hypoglycemia, and insulin resistance). I don't really want to spend all that time until I have a search engine in place that people like and will use.

I've been working on this on and off for a while. I think everything is working, but there are quite a few pages and so I may have overlooked something.

Don't pull your punches if you think something needs work. I've done a lot of these critiques, I know how much work they can be, and I really appreciate any effort. Flameproof

Re: interactive health

Wow Mason this site is amazing in how much information you have provided.
Quick glimpse:

Homepage:Would love to see the links at the bottom of the page that are in red a little smaller.

Toolbar: selected state a little dark in color. Hard to read.
Alternate Format Metric, link broken

Most pages:
left column has very large text. I'd prefer to see you delete the indents and use a smaller font.

I used the BMI Body form and put in the age of my son. Since he's under 19 a graphic came up. Loved that..except it was in Kilograms. Could you have a pounds chart?

That's my quick glance... Kudos to you!!

Re: interactive health

Thanks for the help. I was in the middle of taking BMI-metric off the nav bar when I did this thread.

I'm not sure I understand about your son's BMI. My guess is that you glanced at the linked chart and saw kg/m2 in the bottom corners, which is a formula for determining BMI. There actually is no weight on the chart: the x axis is age and the y axis is BMI. Anyway if that was the problem, I just solved it by erasing the items.

Lightened both nav fonts (main bar and dropdown), they look better.

The font-size thing is a puzzle. What browser are you using? Obviously I have some fonts (left column text and footer) resizing and others not. I'll get to work on it tomorrow.
