This website is a prototype for a photography company. The website uses iframes and basic html. The page was designed in Fireworks then exported to Dreamweaver. I have designed this website before and this is my second attempt. I have designed a few other websites, and this one is very different from the others, dare I say, better than the rest.
All the text on the pages is just fill which I created so my client and you can get the feel of the content. I hope that you enjoy looking at my prototype.

Re: JD Photography
Hey thewebguy;
You've got some cool graphics there. Not sure the flower fits in as well as all the other features. Since I'm the first one to post, let's just say, "we have to talk". As a big fan of Dreamweaver, it's a great program for designing. However, you need to move away from the WYSWYG Design view of the program and delve into the code view and start hand coding your sites. Tables, Iframes are very passe. They are not great for all the different browsers, and especially not great for search engines. Please go to the beginner's resources forum and get an idea of how to design a site that has truly fantastic bones! Your site doesn't validate xhtml and all your css should be linked externally. You have an eye for design... like I said the graphics are cool! Now let's push you into the right coding direction! |

Re: JD Photography
I'll second that. CSS and tableless design are the way to go.
I also like the design though it would be nice if it either the background image faded into the background color or there was border of some kind, also it might be nice to set a 20px margin at the top so that it floats in the middle a bit more. Another point is the mainbody text. The contrast is quite poor so I would suggest something darker so that it stands out more. Though you will always have a problem with that sort of image - it's a great photo but the detail on it is going to draw the eye quite a bit which inteferes with the most important element, the content. Something with less detail and a less contrast would work better, or manipulate the layout so that the eagle apears to the top left of the text. But converting this to a tabless design is of paramount importance. Pete. |
