Re: a web design portfolio

Pros:
Easy to read/navigate

Seemingly well coded

Well structured

Cons:
Don't like the color scheme, the brown/green inputs on the contact page really throw me off.

I think the recent work section is a tad too powerful and should perhaps be under the copy.

The news area seems to lack in function i.e. I would like to be able to click on each entry and read it in its own page.

Rundown:
To be honest I am torn between loving it and hating it. It seems very generic. However at the same time, I find it to be effective and could see myself coming back to it. Having made some awful things in my day (NGIE is ugly as..) Not sure I am qualified to judge a design as much as the code base.

Ah yes ... the contact page. I'm still fiddling around with those colors. After having those colors on there (on the contact form) for a while now, I find them a bit too bold as well.

Maybe but ... since I can write worth a ..... I'd like people to SEE up front what I do instead of having to "read" boring speeches about I do

Well ... there's not much more that will be there. It's mostly just gonna be small paragraph stating stuff like updated portfolio, new system of sort, bla bla bla. Not much going on there so I think it would be useless to have them on a separate page where it will mostly be blank.

Re: a web design portfolio

Hi
I am new to giving a critique of other's sites, so bare with me please.
I initially thought the site looked pretty good, I am a fan of plain and simple but after looking at it for a time I found my eyes were beginning to struggle with the black text on the blue background - not enough definition (contrast). The white on brown is fine and so is the black on green.
The one thing I do not like is the background colours in the input areas on your contacts form, I much prefere white, it is much easier to read for us older folk and there are plenty of us around.

Mike

Yeah ... the form colors are starting to bug me as well (see previous post)

As for the black text on blue ... maybe if I upped the font-size a bit .... that might help.

Thanks for checking it out moshe

My thoughts exactly, Ryan. Karine's work is great and all she is asking for is a little feedback..Not a butcher job.

Rather than up the font size, try changing the blue to a much paler shade?

Re: a web design portfolio

I concur! Honestly people that think they have it all figured out, have a lot to learn! And if you find the need to put down someone else's work then you must not have "success" to fill that gap in your life. So... watch what you say when you think you have it all figured out. You probably don't. Hope that was clear to understand.
