Elsewhere Books
It's not complete as you will find if you try some links. My absolute first attempt as a website. Be gentle but realistic. I, of course, think it is near perfection..... (If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you!), but I trust your experience and knowledge more. Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Elsewhere Books
Not a bad first attempt....
Here are my points: 1. Give your graphics some TLC. They look blurred and full of white edges. I recommend Photoshop of Fireworks (easier to use) 2. I'm assuming you have a very wide screen. You must consider people with smaller screens. I can only see half of your page and I'm using 1024x768. 2. 'Home Page', 'Catalogue', are titles that make sense to you, but don't give enough information to the visitor. I'd recommend: 'Home Page' > ''Sci-Fi and Horror - Elsewhere Books" 'Catalogue' > ''Elsewhere Books Catalogue" That's just my personal opinion... 3. You don't need a frontpage with an 'Enter' link. Just show the stuff! That's it for now...

Re: Elsewhere Books
Hi Sannbe
First rule of thumb when designing an online website is to provide contact information on every page. At minimum a phone number to reach you. Some one maybe really excited about a collectible you have and just want to pick up the phone. They will not really want to have to search on how to reach you. Secondly an email address in a prominent location. Also in regards to the contact us page. A form is fine, but you need to place realy contact info up there. Address, telephone, email etc. That's how you build trust and that in turn builds sales. Trust=sales. Your links would be better if they weren't royal blue. I'd suggest white. The red in your logo would be really hard to read. But the blue is the default color and that gives the impression of a "beginner web designer". Spinal007 made great suggestions. Once you do those things will be taking shape. Also your home page links don't need to go back to the entrance page. They should go back to the indextest.htm page. That will reduce the number of clicks visitors will use. Hope this helps! |

Re: Elsewhere Books
Thanks spinal007 and Lchad,
Excellent thoughts...I will definately take them to heart. This may be on step forward and two back, but with everyone's suggestions I will end up with a killer site. Thank you! Thank you!
