This site I designed for a Health Insurance company (current site is http://www.healthacc.co.za).

Still have a few things I need to complete before I upload it to the clients server.

Hey!
The site is nice in style! Very good for the client.

CSS would be a better alternative than the tables you are using. But otherwise, I find it's layed out well and easy to navigate.

Why are there extra buttons at the top margin? Just in case?

Good job!

Ichad.

Thanks for the crit. I am not too proficient in CSS (or tables for that matter), but it came together nicely.

I left the buttons at the top for future links to TOS, PAIA manuals etc.

Thanks again for the input.

The design isn't bad, but you've gone a little OTT with the shadows in my opinion. A good CSS and XHTML strict layout would help this out a lot in terms of SEO and accessibility, however.

There are quite a few. I initially had only the logo in the header with a drop shadow, but the client liked the effect and asked if I could do the same for the text in the main links and on the product buttons - hence the number.

Can you recommend any good resources for CSS and XHTML strict?

Re: bonafide.co.za/handa

I'll echo what others have said - a very clean, neat design.

However, as I've said in other critiques, you need to keep an eye on the text content.
  • The news section on the left (on the "Why us" page) suddenly cuts off half way through a sentence.
  • On the "Why us" page you have inconstant use of full stops at the end of the bullet points. In one case, you have a space before a full stop.
  • The AIG logo on the "Partners" page is being displayed at a different size to its original size. It's therefore appearing a little blocky. You need to resize the image to the display size and use that instead (I find the free IrfanView software best at this). The larger image also meant it was slow to load.
As I've said elsewhere, I'd seriously recommend that anyone providing web design as a business should have a proofreader available to them to check over sites such as these before delivering them to the customer.

Google for "website proofreader services" and you should find various people offering this service. Get in contact with them and I'm sure you can strike up a deal to provide regular proofreading for you.

David.

Re: bonafide.co.za/handa

Cheers Bruno. Will definitely be spending some time perusing the site.

David, thanks for the crit. The website has not been delivered to the client (as per the url, it is still hosted on my domain as a sub), as I still have some finishing touch up's to do (hence incomplete sentences and grammatical errors).

I still want to try and insert code where the "Latest News" in the left hand column is automatically drawn from the newsletter page so that I need only make changes once instead of on all the pages where it reflects. The same applies to the navigation buttons and the nav buttons on the left of the products pages.

Regards
