Let me tell you abit about my website, It often confuses those who do not know the pc gaming world that well, but ill try to make sense of it for you so that any comments you can pass my way wont take as long to figure out.
My website is a community about video game modifications. Games like battlefield 1942 and never equivalents are easily modified, groups form develpment teams and make total conversions of the games. The idea behind my site is to not only be a place to discuss that but the site reaches out to the community and provides services that help these mod teams produce their work easier.
We do hosting for there websites, we have a system where people can register who are looking for work and those looking for workers can search through the collection of users and find who they are looking for.

feel free to be a critic, i know theres alot wrong with it... but im currently looking for the most important thing to improove, so maybe you can help.

About google, it hates me, i used to have a redirect to get to the page so it never picked me up. I have 360 or more links on yahoo which i htink is a 2 or 3 PR, so i dont know why google doesnt like me.

Anyway, thank you for any comments good or bad, hopefully i made sense of the site.

Re: file.com

It looks good,

I will critique two things...
  1. The Colors - your main colors are fine. My probem is with the header. I dont like the brownish green you've got. I would suggest making it different shades of brown. Just a personal opinion.
  2. The Pictures - You have so many pictures on your first page that it takes a long time to load, especially for those with a slower connection. Just move those pictures to a separate page, and then link to it.

Here's a link for better ranking on Google...

I'll let some of the others look at your code as that is by far not my specialty.

Overall I would say not too bad.

Re: file.com

I have to agree with BGarner, way to many images on the homepage.
Also the header and nav areas could have better colours, other wise a very nice site

Re: file.com

I actually don't mind the colors... I don't really think the logo and the nav bar coloring have much in common but it's just my opinion and certainly not a site killer.

I think my biggest critique has to go to the color of the text font. I know lots of people are doing light on light but I find it might be difficult for some to see.

I also think the logo could be a bit larger. The tagline is almost impossible to read on FF.

Otherwise, it's a winner!

Re: file.com

I know advertising is important, but at least use google ads or something. I hate seeing full-on banners. For me, I really like the colors you've used on the site. It's unconventional, but I think they look good together.

As for all those pictures, I agree. Just link to a page where all the pictures are, don't display them on the main page. It took a while for me to download them and I'm on T1.

Re: file.com

yes, i put that on the list.
unforuntaly is a big modification to my scripts to fix it long term so thats gonna take me some time, im looking at 4 hours of script work and debugging to update everything tied into that news system, mainly because of the admin panel that goes with it.

the colors are abit funky, the blue at the top was initially an ausome shade of orange but my go to guy said that it was overpowering... i really liked it

anywho, thanks guys, seems like some solid feedback, so ill make those fixes and then its to promoting it again...

Re: file.com

Both Symphony and Textism offer great CMS. I know it's a pain to transfer things, but if one suits your site better, doing it sooner rather than later is what you really need to consider.

Re: file.com

I prefer it too, so why not do those "Read the entire article" links? It'd keep your main page much less cluttered.
