SpartanSoft.net
Hello all,
I'd like to say I appreciate anyone's time who actually evaluates my site. Basically http://www.spartansoft.net is a site I created to generate side work based upon my love of web development and .Net coding. I work full time at a good job but have always fantasied about working for myself. I realize this is a pipe dream but when evaluating my site I would love to hear feedback as if you were looking for a website would you consider me. I try to explain in the site that I am fully employeed during the day and wonder if that would be a turnoff for most potential clients. Once again I appreciate your time |

Re: SpartanSoft.net
I was going to check it out, but after seeing that annoying flash and the annoying sounds regenerate on EVERY SINGLE PAGE selection..... I'm done and will never open that sucker again.

Re: SpartanSoft.net
I agree with mriene. The flash should only be used on the main page, if at all. And it really shouldn't be used for navigation because if someone doesn't have Flash, they won't be able to navigate your site easily. It would be best if you set a cookie so that even when a visitor went back to the home page, the Flash wouldn't be there.

Re: SpartanSoft.net
Hi:
on the about us page Quote:
3rd paragraph... Quote:
5th paragraph... Quote:
Did you design this site or is this a purchased template? If it's a template, I won't comment on the design.... One thought I had on the "select components" page is that you may want to add a line at the bottom that says Need something else? We can customize pages to suit y our business needs. For instance, if a photographer contacted you, they may want a gallery page but it's not listed there. I do think that I would be concerned about hiring you since this is a sideline job. I'd want some type of assurances in your text that says we can provide a web site in a reasonable amount of time. Since you have fulltime jobs, it would worry me that this could drag on forever. I'm not crazy about the paragraph that quotes what type of software you use and latest technologies. The average website client doesn't even understand that terminology. That paragraph could be condensed down to "We use the latest technologies...etc". In the footer, you need a vertical line between Free Estimate and Our blog. On the testimonials page, I'd delete the bottom section, it's a repeat of what you have on other pages. The services page and the select components page is sort of the same information. Either delete one of those pages or figure out a way to write it differently. My only concern otherwise is that the site is wordy. It's very boring to read read read and not have any visuals. The light gray color of the text is tiring on the eyes since there is nothing else going on visually. Very few large headlines to direct my eye to what I want to know. No lines, no bullets, no clipart, or photos, nothing to keep me interested. I do think you have a good site that looks professional and you could acquire clients from it. Hope that helps! |

Re: SpartanSoft.net
Just a note expanding on lchad's thoughts:
When I come across a business site and I spot a typo or serious grammar mistake, I won't buy anything from them. Trust is good, and I find it hard to trust a site when the English is poor. Have someone proof-read your site or hire a person to write content for you. Last edited by Ryan Fait; Nov 2nd, 2006 at 23:55. |

Re: SpartanSoft.net
I think the basics for a clean, corporate site are there. I agree - don't use the flash navigation - there's no need for it. I like a bit more line spacing as well when you have the font at that size.

Re: SpartanSoft.net
I agree with the points made above... grammar should be fixed, and there shouldn't be any annoying sounds. It's up for you to decide of course, if you want to keep the flash navigation - that restricts some people from accessing your webpage.
Nonetheless, the design was quite clean and apt for the concept of the site. |

Re: SpartanSoft.net
Thanks for all the valuable feedback. I am going to remove the flash entirely. I wish Microsoft Visual Studio had a spell check functionality.
