Dear all,
my name is Berjoe, and I'm new here. I'm actually also new to the flash world. I'm on my way learning flash by trying to make my personal website as a start. But I'm suddenly stuck in creating photo gallery... adn then I saw one of the flash templates that they offer in the internet that really interest me. I have the URL for you to check: http://www.dynamicfactory.us/xmlswf/v10b/index.html. I don't want to create the same outlook like the templates give, but if you click to the gallery section, it gives exactly the principle of the image gallery I want to make, like when I click the thumbnail then it comes the picture scrolling in to the stage and close the thumbnail gallery and when I close the picture it come back to the thumbnail gallery. And again I'm stupid like about flash. I have no idea how to make it possible. So I really wish someone could help me with my stupidity.. please.. please.. please.. help me... hehehehe.. big hugs, berjoe Last edited by berjoe; Oct 1st, 2006 at 22:38. |

Re: Photo Gallery Help
I thought it was a free template or something. I mean if you want a gallery just like theirs them do that. I could show you some photo galleries I have done in the past if you want. But I am not going to go and build that photo gallery just for you...lol
Ok I will try to explain how this photo gallery works. First off it is just a bunch of motion tweens. When the user (that's you) hovers over the image a brown border comes in. I would guess this is a movie clip that has a stop action, half way though, one half for the border to come in, and then when the user scrolls the mouse out of the hot area the border comes out. Notice the border affect it very elegant, when the user hovers over the picture the border grows in size ever so slightly. This is a very professional effect. Then the effect I am not so fond of. The picture is masked up and text appears that says click to view. I personally would do something with that text. Wither change the font, or make it smaller. It just looks out of place; I don't know what I would do. (I might just get rid of the text entirely) Then when the user clicks the picture the rest of the stage slides up (motion tween) and a full size image comes up. Also a semi transparent grey panel comes up, to go back to the photo gallery. I hope this helped some. This is going to be a difficult photo gallery to copy, but it is very possible. Let me know if you need any help with the action scripting or anything. Good Luck!! |

Re: Photo Gallery Help
Yeah most people are, but that is just what I am really good at. Some people are good at design and other programming. I am good at both, just like action scripting better.

Re: Photo Gallery Help
Yeah I love MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Skype, for the features they have. On all of those messengers you can login invisible. That way no one can see you are online until you are ready to talk. The only one that does not have this feature is AOL, which is a virus in the first place. So remember AOL SUCKS!!

Ok I uploaded some files to my website for you to look at. The first is a zip file. This contains a video on how to make really cool photo transitions in flash. I thought this might be useful to you since you are doing a photo gallery. The only gallery I could find is a page flip book one. I am not too impressed with it. But it is ok. I think the other ones are berried in some of the other files I have on my computer. So here are the links to both. Enjoy!!

Re: Photo Gallery Help
That is awesome..!!! Thank you Jacob..!!! you're so nice..!!!
Oh yeah, I have a question for the action script for my photo gallery... I made already the thumbnails, and then the scrolling stage like showing in the templates, but how can I connect my thumbnails to the motion tween of the scrolling stage then showing the big picture...??? hugs, berjoe |

Re: Photo Gallery Help
That is the part that is going to require allot of thinking on your part. I would try something to the nature of… make each picture a movie clip. Then within that movie clip make them a button. Then within the code for that button specify, on release go to and play this picture. But as for the amination for the picture. Just have a little bit before it. So say the picture is on frame 30. So the user clicks the thumbnail, which sends the user to frame 20 then on frame 20 it fades into frame 30. That is what they are doing in the above website. They might be doing something fancier than that but, I don’t think so. Hope this helped!!

Re: Photo Gallery Help
Yes, I was also thingking about that.. but then I'm working with at least 20 pictures, so that means that I have to make 20 tweening...??? and label all the frames...?

Re: Photo Gallery Help
That would be correct. But let me save you some time. DO NOT EVER put 2 motion tweens on the same layer!! That will mess everything up. It should not be that big of a deal. Might take you like what 10 minuets. You create one motion tween copy it to all of the other layers, and then replace the symbol. At least that is what I would do. Then just tweak it a bit, and then you’re DONE!!
