mouse rollover and sound problems

I NEED HELP!!
I developed a website (www.rivertowngym.com) and on the website the buttons I created, some work some do not. I built them all the same. Please go to the above site and scroll over HOME and RATES page. See how these do not change color, and the other do. I think i must be overlooking something easy, but I cannot find it. I need more eyes looking at the code to see if I am overlooking something. Please help. The flash file can be sent to anyone interested in helping; please let me know your email address. (It will not work as an attachment here.) All help is appreciated.

Also, the sound shuts off ALL sounds (mouse clicks and background music). During the development in Flash 8, the mouse clicks stayed on when I turned off the background music. Once the file is published and loaded on the host server, ALL sounds are shut off when I click the sound off button. Any way to change this? djm

Re: mouse rollover and sound problems

have you looked at the over state of the buttons in queston?

if the sound is being killed, it is prob cause you are using a chunk of code that kills all sounds.

hard to tell from what we have here. post the ac that you used for the sound and perhaps how u made your button symbols.

Re: mouse rollover and sound problems

the sound actionscripting is

"mysound = new Sound();"

If you send me your email address, I will send you the FLA file. That would be the easiest. The site is www.rivertowngym.com. The HOME and RATES pbuton do not work, but the other do. I am fustrated because they all appear to be made the same. I need an extra pair of eye looking at this.

I transposed the frame labels of the the SERVICES button for the RATE button and then the SERVICES button worked in the the RATE position. So I rebuilt the RATE button. That did not fix the problem. I am fustrated. djm

Re: mouse rollover and sound problems

i dont think that piece of script stops sound. make sure the one that u use is just stopping the specific sound you have on your timeline, not just kill sound.

well... at this point i cant look at it cause my machine is down. im on a small pc i use for testing.

i would remove the buttons that dont work and copy the symbols from the ones that work and change the text.

Cool Re: mouse rollover and sound problems

I will look at what ever you need. Attach the Fla file in a post and I will see what's wrong. Maybe together we can fix this problem.

Re: mouse rollover and sound problems

Thanks for the reply!!
I did fix the mouse rollover problem, but the following I need a little assistance with:
1. The sound. When you turn off the background music, it turns off ALL the sounds, including the mouse clicks. I want the mouse clicks to stay on all the time, independant of the background music.
2. I will soon be adding a new page called "About Us". The SERVICES page is overloaded with too much information so we are going o break it up. This new page will have a picture gallery section. Can you suggest a 'easy to maintain' method to incorporate pictures. Currently I have on the SERVICES page a fade-in technique. It's crude but it works and is only a small number of pictures. I was thinking of a scrolling hortizontal bar and when a small picture looked interesting, the user can roll the mouse over it or click it and produce a blow-up version (and a small text message, optional). Any ideas? At the following link (http://webxadmin.net/eyelash/demo-6.php), this is close to what I envision, but also billable. Maybe you may know where to go to get exactly what I envision and free (or maybe something more appropriate.) If the price is reasonable, I will pay for it. (This client project is already a money loser.) Just thought I would ask rather than re-inventing the wheel.
3. Is there a way to make the background a subtle color change? One person I was talking with suggested breaking up the background. What I was thinking is have the top continue to be the white but around mid way down the page, start a color change to a subtle/soft light blue. He felt there was " too much white" I am not sure a agree. I thought I would try it and see what it looks like, and see if the pages are easier or harder to read.
The FLA file along with a ZIP version can be obtained at this link.

for FLASH 8: http://www.rivertowngym.com/downloads/rivertown.fla
for FLASH MX: http://www.rivertowngym.com/downloads/rivertownMX.fla

If you want the ZIP versions, just change the suffix from .FLA to .ZIP

Thanks!! djm

Re: mouse rollover and sound problems

Hi
i think that breaking up the background would be the best idea you could even have it fadeing in and out every couple of mins if you wanted to so it would never stay the same very long i went on to your website and gd job i like it.
