not sure if this is Flash or Java problem . . .
Covering my bases by posting this message on the java section and the flash section, please don't chuck me for spamming.
I have created my personal website, which you can see at http://www.mcvinnie.co.uk Depending on your browser, you will probably notice some problems with certain parts of the site. Firstly, if you rollover the 'Multimedia' option then click on one of the sub options, a new window should open and play the sequence. This is fine in Safari and Firefox but doesn't work in Explorer or Opera. I think this may be to do with the java script I have used with the flash buttons but I am not sure. Secondly (and purely aesthetic) The splash page should only show an image of a helicopter and an enter button. Again, this is fine in Safari but in Firefox these two elements have strange blue boxes round them, which are not supposed to be there and look totally out of place. So can anyone follow that? More so, can anyone suggest any action I could take in order to resolve these problems? I would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thanks again, Ross |

Re: not sure if this is Flash or Java problem . . .
Thanks for that Jacob. Firefox is one of the browsers that my website works OK with. It's Explorer and Opera that I have problems with.
I have solved the problem with the mystery blue boxes. They were simply borders. I had not specified any borders and just left the border value blank, but Firefox decided to use a default and put in ugly blue boxes. I have now entered a '0' value for borders and it looks fine. I still have the problem with certain things not opening in the 2 browsers mentioned. Thanks again. |

Re: not sure if this is Flash or Java problem . . .
First off I would recommend fixing the click to activate problem you are having when an internet explorer user visits your website. I think you know what I am talking about. I wrote a solution for this problem. It can be found on this page...
http://www.webforumz.com/flash-forum...s-or-using.htm Second, have you thought of using a browser detect page? I had to do that for one of my websites. It detects the browser and directs them to an IE version of the site. But that would still leave you with your IE problem. I really don't know I would guess that it is a JavaScript problem. But I would need you to paste the flash actionscript code you used here before I could be sure about it. |
