my movies display as thumbnail previews
Here is my problem. I created an HTML page with tables. In 3 cells, I placed 3 flash files(CS3). 1 was a banner, 1 was a large main movie, and 1 was a menu.
It viewed perfectly in Windows XP on my Opera browser at home. I burned the folder to a cd, and it viewed fine from there as well. I took the cd to my client to show him my current progress. He had Windows Vista with IE. The HTML pages loaded up fine, but the 3 flash movies, which were originally 3 different sized, were now only 1-inch square thumbnails, 50x50 square. Almost as if it is putting the movie in the same dimensions as the "get flash player" button. The flash files were intact, and were running, but again, like a thumbnail preview. Is there a setting in Vista or IE that would cause the swfs to be reduced to 1-inch thumbnails? Could it have been a problem in the cd burning? is it an IE problem? Has not anyone ever had this issue come up before? The code in the HTML tables is set to correctly view the right size of the swf files, but it still wants to come up as a 50x50 square. Almost as if it is putting the movie in the same dimensions as the "get flash player" button. |

Re: my movies display as thumbnail previews
You should specify the flash dimensions in your html code.

Re: my movies display as thumbnail previews
In the last paragraph, I wrote:
The code in the HTML tables is set to correctly view the right size of the swf files, but it still wants to come up as a 50x50 square. So, the HTML cole is correctly set at the movie dimensions. Also, it plays fine on my computer, I can see it perfectly normal. I burned the folder to a cd (since my flash drive is lost), and my client viewed it on his Vista machine, and ...kerplunk...my movies have been transformed into thumbnails. I just received an email. He tried it on his home system, XP & IE, and the same thing... thumbnail views. I'm going to try burning another disk. |

Re: my movies display as thumbnail previews
I just found the culprit. Odd that it maybe.
I removed the <object> line that puts in the 50x50 flash download link if there is no flash installed. I don't know why it didn't skip that, since he did have flash. It kept the 50x50 and forced the actual movie into those dimensions, even though I specified dimensions for them as well. I don't have the code on me, as I work on it at home, and I have lost my jump drive in a recent move. |
