I'm a beginner and I'm working on a flash project that must include buttons. Are these the same as symbols? Thanks!

They are a type of symbol.
There are currently three types: Movie Clip Button Graphic

A button is a type of a symbol.
You can create a button/link without choosing "convert to symbol > button". but this option is the easiest! |
