Flash: no sound and/or no video
Hello,
Here's the skinny of it: I create my flash videos and when playing my them back I only get the skin w/sound but no video. My co-worker creates it the same way, she gets the video on playback but no sound. Here are our steps: new file import video (we've tried mpeg and avi) browse for file progressive download from a web server pelase select a flash video encoding profile, i choose flash 8 high quality i choose any skin say clearovernovol.swf finish It appears on my stage as w: 32.0 and h: 32.0 (it should be 704x480), on her computer it shows on the stage the correct size. I resize it on my computer to view it on the stage, preview it, only the skin and not the video and i can hear it. my co-worker goes through the same steps as me and only gets the video w/no sound. Any thoughts? thanks in advance! Jeanne |

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
Thats...interesting.
Have you tried encoding the video to an .flv file? |

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
Thanks for your response!
We've been trying different types through the encoder. I just tried encoding an MOV file and that is the only type that is working with sound and video. Is this normal? Jeanne |

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
No...it's not normal....hmm...haha
Well, I'll mess with putting different types of video and see what happens. This has never happened to me before. Oh yeah, What version of flash are you using? |

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
I'm using Flash pro 8
It just seems that there are many steps to upload a flash video. From DVD to swf. Now it's uploading the video to view it online which I'm struggling with. But I guess that would be another post. Thank you for your help. J |

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
Do you have all the file paths right when you upload it?

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
Yes, paths are correct.
Today, as a test, I put all files in one folder instead of ../../ etc, so all paths were correct. When I save the swf from AVS Media (app), I have no problems playing, linking and viewing online, but it is HUGE. When I save in Fash to a swf, nothing plays. I can play the ClearOverAll.swf, but not the file I want to play, the actual commercial. My IT person just told me on Friday that in order for us to progressively download swfs, our server would need to have "flash media server". So, he recommended that I embed them. Thanks for your help. |

Re: Flash: no sound and/or no video
friend just sent me this:
(unfortunately, my IT person doesn't want to try this) http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/c/enginee...pe-in-iis-4198 You can figure out easily if your server is configured to support .flv files by posting a .flv file on a server and navigating to the URL of that .flv in a browser. If you see a LONG string of garbage on the screen, your server isn't set up for .FLVs and needs to have the MIME type set up. Adding .flv MIME type in IIS 1) Select the site to configure in IIS, right click and select "Properties" 2) Under HTTP Headers Tab, select "File Types" under the MIME Map section and select "New Type" 3) Type ".flv" as the associated extension and "video/x-flv" as the content type. 4) Select "OK" and you're ready to fly! |
