Building Text/Dropdown Menu w/ no background
First, I've looked through this forum section to see if my question could be answered before posting and came up empty.
I'm a newbie with Flash and wanting to build links with Flash text and drop-down menus but seem to be hitting a small snag. Whenever the file is published the original background is visible and cannot seem to figure out how to eliminate it. I just want the text to be displayed and have the web site background behind without any interference/blockage. In other words, "no background color" Thanks in advance.... Re: Building Text/Dropdown Menu w/ no background
Disregard...found out how by adjusting the properties of the flash file and inserting a parameter (wmode) and value (transparent) to eliminate the background.
For those who don't how to do it here is a 'lil tutorial at the Macromedia site: http://www.macromedia.com/support/fl...sparent_dw.htm |

Re: Building Text/Dropdown Menu w/ no background
Cool deal...I got brownies! They have pecans in 'em, right?
Though I solved one 'lil issue there is still the drop-down menu delima that is provin' to be a bit of a bear. I followed a tutorial via the "Webforumz.com" on buildin' a drop-down menu but for what I want it didn't provide what was needed. Or it may have but too much of a newbie to see it. Here is the layout I'm wanting to do: Photos -- Six Mile Lake (Link to a URL) ---------- Hillburg Ski Area (Link to a URL) ---------- Animals on base (Link to a URL) ---------- Misc. of EAFB (Link to a URL) "Photos" is a primary link with sub-links brought up after rolling over it and with a rollover color. I've been successful in building a simple text link with a rollover color but this multi-sub-link deal is a different animal. Of course I will end having several primary links where each one will have its own set of sub-links. In no way do I want to have 'buttons" to obsure the main background. I'll continue to dig to see what can be found on tutorials and hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction. |

Re: Building Text/Dropdown Menu w/ no background
Ben,
Sorry to say, and this just shows how much of a noob I am, but can't really provide you the "code". I'm just struggling to understand how to do a drop-down menu. Now, I have download one and trying to examine how it is setup, seeing how it could be manipulated to the way I want. It's not as easy as first thought but being persistant. |

Re: Building Text/Dropdown Menu w/ no background
If i understand your problem correctly you are trying to create a flash dropdown to embed into a website? If this is true why not just use a normal dropdown and customize it to your likings in CSS? This would make it so that everyone could view your site incase someone doesnt have flash player installed and it would make your site load alot faster. Also Google cant read flash or images so if you had it in plain code google could read your text and that would be better for your google ratings.
