Question Need help to start learning Flash

Hi,

I have just joined this forum and think its a great place to be in.

I would like to start learning Flash and build my way to get a decent job revolving around it. Can you please help me with what version of Flash software should i start learning ? Is it essential for me to invest in the latest CS3 version for learning?

Is it possible to self learn or a class / college is essential?

How imp is it to have a certification in Flash to find a job?

any help in this regard is greatly appreciated. thanks for ur time and inputs.

TPC

Okay, well I am going to recommend you buy flash from Adobe. Might as well get the latest version and not an older version. As far as the certification goes most clients only care about your portfolio, what you can do for them, and what you have done! Business like to see a degree or certification of some type, but they will also be happy if you are good and have a great portfolio.

As far as learning goes. Check out my article on the "Resources For Learning Flash". Good Luck!

Yes, you can self learn flash, or you can take a class. Up to you! You will probably find the videos I listed above will be a great resource when it comes to learning flash. You also will probably be able to learn faster, as the videos you can rewind and go at your own pace. Justin is great, and you will learn a lot from his videos.

Oh and start learning with the latest version CS3. No since and trying to learn another version later. Might as well buy the latest version and start our learning the newest technologies.

I'm assuming you already have a good knowledge of xhtml and css, if not you should learn that before you learn flash.

Anyway, if you want to spend money on learning I'd join lynda.com, it's by far the quickest and most efficient way to learn flash. I learnt CSS from there in a matter of hours and they have a huge collection of really good videos you can download.

Re: Need help to start learning Flash

Thats not necessarily true Aardvarked. I learned flash before i set out on CSS and other things.

I found that the best way to learn for me was to do as many tutorials as possible. Regardless of what they are on, and then start to piece things together as you go.

Good Luck!

Yeah - not much knowledge of xhtml and css is required to get a flash site up and running, it is its own seperate monster.

As long as you can copy and paste the published files html code into you index.html or just rename the dang thing index.html - you're good to go...

Re: Need help to start learning Flash

Flash is a good way to learn cause it is always going to be used in some way or another in a site because it is so efficient and really useful, its also good if you know the knowledge of it.

Thanks

No, don't join lynda just to learn flash. They are expensive and not as good as cartoonsmart.com or learnflash.com!
