If flash is not installed then
Is there a script out there that will detect if the users visiting the website has got flash player installed and if it not installed then it will display a jpg instead. also it it possiable to remove the border around the flash file which says "click here to active adobe ....."

For the click to activate thing - read the stick at the top of this forum for the answer. :-)
As for the javascript to display a picture if there is no flash detected yes there is...let me find it. Here is a site that has it, you can piece meal what you see here to create the effect you are looking for. http://www.thehansofoundation.org/ Cheers, Scott
