Re: locking positions of symbols relative to...
How are you accessing this movieclip?
Does a user push a button and then it plays the movieclip and created the object? It should work, but you have to actually tell flash to go to that frame/movieclip for it to start the action script. Make sense?

Re: locking positions of symbols relative to...
That makes sense. I've got the symbol placed on the scene drag and drop style. Wouldn't its placement on the scene naturally make it run the code thats inside the symbol because it is present?

Re: locking positions of symbols relative to...
Not if the actionscript is within that symbol on frame 1. Something needs to tell flash to "Play" that symbol to get to frame 1 within that specific symbol.
P.S. I caught a bad cold and I am all medded up, so if I am not making sense please tell me.

Re: locking positions of symbols relative to...
For your help i send you good thoughts and hope you pull through. nice way to help even though you're sick!!
i have just assumed that the movie IS actually playing because the visually changing things I have in the movie are in motion. is there something additionally that needs to be done to make the actionscript in the symbol start up? |

Re: locking positions of symbols relative to...
Hmmm...I'll do some checking. If the movie is playing then any actionscript in that movie should be called as well.
