preloading using a swf?
Hi,
I have scripts on my first frames of swf's that can't be moved to the 3rd frames because they are rendered inactive which makes the usual ifFrameloaded preloaded function impossible. I am wondering if I could use a separate preloading swf movie to preload other swf's? What would be best is if I could start the preloading for the entire site with the splash page. If this possible if the site is made up of different swf's? Thanks alot for any help, Nikising |

Re: preloading using a swf?
To answer your question...Yes, it is possible to load other movies with an .swf playing while its loading. I'll see if I can find that...thing I once found.

Re: preloading using a swf?
Hi ,
Thanks for the response. The only way I found to do this was by loading the swf's into a mc on the main stage but unfortunately this renders the scripts in the loaded swf inactive. So it doesn't work. What I've been trying is a moviecliploader script that loads a jpg externally into the swf ( because in fact the site is a photogallery ) but the problem with this is that with the script I have, the image is loaded into the same place which is a sliding menu and so the photos slide with the thumbnail buttons! It's a bit of a nightmare really. I am not sure what the best way to preload is for this. I also read that when loading the images externally, it takes a while and so the user always has to wait for each image. It's a bit tedious that. All I need really is to preload the swf file, or maybe just the animation there showing , because on a DSL the swf's really don't take too long. But there's enough of a lag to have an animation. But this is impossible for each swf file because the script needs to be on the first frame! UUUUrrrrggghhhhh! At a loss, Niki |

Re: preloading using a swf?
AHA! I think I found it.
http://www.kirupa.com/developer/acti.../preloader.htm That, is basically what I think you need. You say you want to have an swf playing while something loads? I'm pretty sure this will help. |
