Copying specific characters from a Text Field
I'm currently working on a flash file in which users can enter data into text fields within flash, such as Name, phone number, address, etc...
What I'd like to do is generate a "Customer Number" using the current date, plus the initials from the user's name. What would be the best way to pull the characters i need from the corrosponding text fields and have it populate its own text field?

hmmm, it depends on what you are planning on doing with the data. You could do it with ActionScript. Or if you are planning on having the data sent to you in an email it would probably be best to use PHP to send and generate a customer number.
