Flash levels don't load in web browser, but do locally?
I have a Flash movie with a _root .swf, which then loads a .swf movie into level 1.
Works fine on my computer, I have embeded into a webpage and in the web browser it sticks on the _root (level 0) movie and fails to load the next one into level1. Anyone else experienced this problem, I have had it working many times before. Is it a new browser error issue or something? I am using Flash8 and IE.6 / Firefox.2 |

Re: Flash levels don't load in web browser, but do locally?
Check your script for any errors....and if an error comes up when you try and test it, show the error
Anyway, it might be a browser issue, try and find an earlier browser and test it. |

Re: Flash levels don't load in web browser, but do locally?
Flash 8 layer support will not show if your browser doesn't have the correct version of flash... make sure you have flash 9 installed in the browser you are viewing it in. This was a problem I had earlier and when I installed Flash 9 it fixed it (flash 9 is a player). Even though it worked on my system to begin with(because Flash 8 Pro was running it on the system).

Re: Flash levels don't load in web browser, but do locally?
I had the same problem before as well. If you want to make sure as many users can use it as possible then don't load it in to a level but instead use an empty movie clip set at the right point on the page.

Re: Flash levels don't load in web browser, but do locally?
Thanks for the help. Tested the movie and there were no errors.
What I did differently to normal is I placed all my flash .swf files in a folder (labeled 'flash') and not in the root directory of the website. I was not aware that flash inherits its root directory from the webpage it is embeded, so when I was trying to load "movietwo.swf" it was not there, so I had to add the folder to the path: "flash/movietwo.swf" I presumed the flash would retain its root directory relevent to itself, not the webpage it is embeded. so there we go! |

lol! We have all had the same problem but for 3 different reasons! That's what I love about web work, while it might all be broken the same way, you never know what it takes to fix it :P.
